TheMuskokaBeachVolleyballBlastwillfigureprominentlyatthe
6thAnnualBigWeekendFestivaltaking
placeinMacTier,OntarioduringtheCivicLongWeekend,August2,3and4th,2013.
HavingbecomeaMuskokatradition,theeventwilltakeplacealongtheshoresofStewartLakeandatlocationsinand
aroundthetownofMacTier,offeringfunandinteractiveactivitiestotakepartin.Theweekendwillbeafamily
focused,affordable,andfunweekendwithlotstodoforMomandDadandthekids.
OrganizedbyTheMacTierCommunityDevelopmentCommittee,thisyearseventwillalsoserveasthelaunchand
mainfundraisingeventfortheKidSportGeorgianBayChapter.KidSportisanorganizationthatworkstoensure
thatallkidshaveanopportunitytoplaysportsregardlessoffinancialcircumstances.Thisisaccomplishedby
providingregistrationfeesandequipmentgrantsdirectlytofamilies.
AsaCommunityDevelopmentorganizationwewanttoensurethatweprovidegreatopportunitiessuchastheBig
Weekendbutwealsowanttoensurethatweareprovidingon-goingsupporttotheresidentsofthecommunity,
statedDawnMacDonald,ChairoftheTheMacTierCommunityDevelopmentCommitteeandtheBigWeekend
Festival.Thankstothesupportofdozensofamazingvolunteers,weareanticipatingtheweekendtobeahuge
successenthusedMacDonald.

Crowdswillnotbedisappointedduringthethree-dayfestivalthisciviclongweekend.Fridaynightwellkickoffwith
exhibitionplayfortheMuskokaBeachVolleyballBlastattheStewartLakeTownBeach,followedbyamovienightfor
kidsattheMacTierArena.SaturdaythetournamentwillbeinfullswingwithacommunityBBQ,beertent,and
childrensentertainment.SaturdaynightcomedowntotheMacTierarenaforaMuskokaSummerDancewithlive
entertainment.SundaywillconcludetheFestivalwiththeStewartLakeRegattaattheTownBeachfollowedbytheParadeofBoatsandthegrandfinalefireworksdisplayintheevening!

AboutTheMacTierCommunityDevelopmentCommittee:thecommitteeconsistsofdedicatedvolunteers,community
membersandleaders,andanelectedBoardofDirectorsthatallrepresentvariousinterestsofthecommunityof
MacTier.Thecommitteehashadgreatsuccessesinthecommunity,includingthepreviousfiveBigWeekend
Festivals,the100
thAnniversaryofMacTierCelebration,andtheMacTierPublicLibrary.Mostimportantly,the
CommitteesgoalistoignitearenewedsenseofprideandinterestinthecommunityofMacTierwhilesupportingits
residents.
AboutKidSport:KidSportisanot-for-profitorganizationthatprovidesfundingtofamiliestoremovethefinancial
barriersassociatedwithorganizedsportforchildrenandyouth,SoALLKidsCanPlay.KidSportdoesthisby
providingregistrationandequipmentgrantsdirectlytofamiliesthatexpressaneedforassistanceforchildrenages18
yearsofageorunder.Nationally,since1993KidSporthasassistedoverhalfamillionCanadianchildrenbyproviding
themwithassistanceinordertoensuretheyareabletopursuehealthyactivelifestylesthroughsport.
