Future Fliers

Drones could be the next major tech revolution to sweep the world, and these robotic flying machines are nowbeing used for purposes that extend far beyond the secretive realm of the military.

Photographers have lofty dreams of using drones to capture stunning aerial views, and Amazon founder JeffBezos nabbed headlines when he introduced the idea of using drones to deliver goods to online shoppers. But,over the course of the next decade, these types of drones (if they gain approval from the U.S. government) couldmake up only a portion of what some predict will become a multibilliondollar global industry.

In the meantime, here are some surprising ways drones could be used around the world.

Mel Tisdale · Sharmans Cross High School for BoysDrones (UAVs) rely on GPS for positioning if flying in autonomous mode as more andmore will when they are used for deliveries. GPS jammers can be bought on EBay andcan have a range measured in kilometres.

Conclusion: As people get fed up with the noisy intrusions these things make into theirlives it is inevitable that some will turn to jamming their signals, grounding them in theprocess. This will eventually lead to their being banned (along with driverless cars, whose lack of positional data will cause traffic havoc and possible injury or loss of life).
