4th year Projects: Research Paper The main purpose of the research paper is to help you learn how to write a scientific and technical paper in your area of research, and to learn how to write concisely but with precision and accuracy. Each department uses a different format for the research paper, so consult your supervisor about the format of this submission in your department. For example. in Mechanical Engineering, the general format that might be suitable for all projects is that specified at http://www.asme.org/pubs/authors/ for research papers published in the various American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) journals. In particular, projects that deal with heat transfer and thermodynamics can follow the format of papers in the ASME Journal of Heat Transfer.
