Grotscon 2013 Warhammer 40,000 Player Package

Overview:Welcome to Grotscon 2013. Grotscon is a war-gaming convention located in Red Deer, Alberta. This year Grotscon

will run on April 20th and 21st. Grotscon 2013 is in its second year and aims to provide a competitive, yet fun weekend of gaming, laughter and downright madness. We hope to see everyone at this event and make it a yearly staple for the gaming communities of Alberta and surrounding regions.

Warhammer 40K:The Warhammer 40K tournament this year will take place on Sunday, April 21st and sign in for the event begins at

8:45am. The tournament will run until roughly 6:00pm and be held at the Pioneer Lodge (located at 4324 46A Ave, Red Deer, AB T4N 6T7). This event will have 16 open seats. The tournament is to be played at 1850 points per player using the 6th Edition of the Warhammer 40,000 rules. Please note that in the event a codex is released within 30 days of the 21st of April (So any codex released on March 22nd or later), the older version will be required to be used for this tournament. This is to limit unfamiliar rulings and issues from arising. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

The Rules:Each player must conduct him or herself in a manner that is polite and non-confrontational throughout the event.

Any player being disruptive or caught cheating and/or time stalling will be dealt with as seen fit by the tournament judge. This decision is final and will obeyed at all times. The following rules will be in play for all games played in the tournament:

1) Respect – Do not move or touch another persons property without their permission. Do not speak ill of any player for any reason.

2) Terrain – Terrain will be placed on all tables prior to the event start. Upon being assigned a table you will play on it as set. You are not allowed to move terrain for any reason. Any terrain you place as part of fortifications must be placed without moving preset terrain.

3) Lists – You must have at least two copies of your list. This list cannot change at all throughout the tournament. Before each game you and your opponent will swap lists and review them. The second copy is to be turned into the tournament judge. Please note that all Psychic Disciplines must be written onto your lists upon its creation.

4) Organization – Only a single FOC is allowed. A single Fortification and Allied Detachment are also optional and allowed if desired.

5) Painting – Painting is not required for this event, but as always should be a goal of the hobby. Painting will play a part in the scoring of the event however, and as such top marks will normally go to those who excel in all aspects of the hobby.

6) Forgeworld – Forgeworld models approved for Warhammer 40,000 use (nothing meant for Apocalypse only) are welcome at Grotscon 2013. This means full armies from Forgeworld sourcebooks are acceptable and welcomed as long as all units and models are 40K legal. Especially important however, you MUST bring the Forgeworld sourcebooks that contain unit cost, rules and the like for the tournament judge and opponents to double check. An Army Builder printed lists with rules will not suffice.

7) Materials – You must bring with you a Warhammer 40,000 6th Ed. Rulebook, Your required codices (and Forgeworld material if applicable) and any additional written support as required. Anyone unable to provide these materials upon request may be subject to disqualification from the tournament. Each player will also need to bring Dice, Measurement Device(s), Templates and any other normally required materials to play the game.

8) Time – Each game will have a preset time limit. The game will end either upon this time limit or when the random turn length has been completed. Each player must use his or her time within reason. Stalling or making slow moves to “game the clock” will not be accepted. If the game is going on when “Dice Down” is called you may finish the single roll (and all required rolls linked ie Armour Saves) and then the game is over.

9) Dispute – Players are encouraged to try and resolve and all rules disputes among themselves before calling a judge. If a judge is called then the ruling by that judge is final and will be considered accurate for the game, no appeals are allowed. Please do not bother other players who are involved in their own games for rulings.

10) Sidelines – If you have finished a game early, you are of course welcome to sit by and watch others finish. Please do not however give them tactical advice or remind them of threats and the like. Each player must play their game solo. Any player found to be doing this will be dealt with as the tournament judge sees fit.

11) Have Fun – This is a fun event despite the competitive nature. We hope every player enjoys the games they play and has a positive experience while playing.
