Preface This book is a compendium of sample topics for summer training of MBA students. Anattempt has been made to make it as comprehensive and concise as possible. Thetopics given herein are for the purpose of guiding the students to choose theirsummer training projects and can be modified as per the requirement of thecompany. The topics have been classified into areas of specialization for the sake of convenience and clarity. In addition to being a guide for summer training this bookcan also be used to peek into the job requirements of various specializations and canbe used to decide on the right specialization for a student.
In addition to sample topics this book contains various guidelines to be followed inorder to derive the maximum benefit out of the two months of summer training. Itcontains the rules of University and the code of conduct the student is expected toobserve during the period of internship.
The book also contains a section on the activities which are generally done by variousdepartments of a company. This shall help in widening the perspective of thestudents and also increase the exposure he can receive.

Project financingIn a business companies have towork on new projects in order toenhance their profitability. Butbefore a new project is taken up itsviability has to be checked. It shouldpass certain parameters. Once thecompany decides to go up with aproject then the problem of itsfinancing comes. How to finance aproject? Different financinginstruments have to be evaluated.Students will study the financinginstruments used by the company
for financing a project out of available options. Cause forselecting a particular instruments.

hands of the company. Differentbudgets are prepared by thecompany for the efficient working of the company. Because budgetedfigures give a parameter to thecompany against whom the resultshave to be evaluated. In any production house inventoryconstitutes the major portion of their working capital. Inventorymust be managed properly so as toreduce the chances of shortage aswell as excess of inventory.Production houses use variousinventory management tools suchas ABC analysis, JIT, LIFO FIFO,stock levels etc. Student is requiredto study the various Inventory

Cash Conversion cycles andits Impact on theprofitability
Firms typically follow a cycle inwhich they purchase inventory, sellgoods on credit, and then collectaccounts receivable. This cycle isreferred to as the cash conversioncycle. Sound working capital policyis designed to minimize the timebetween cash expenditures on
materials and the collection of cashon sales.
Shortening the cash conversioncycle leads to higher profitabilityand valuation of the company,provided the other factors areconstant. Generally, a drawback of shorter Days Sales Outstanding(DSO) is loss in sales. The students
have to study how the companiesare achieving these mutuallycontradicting objectives andsuggest means to improve the cashconversion cycle without hamperingsales.

NPAs are a part and parcel of banking industry. But banks can use
these NPAs for their benefit byresorting to the technique of Securitization. Students will berequired to study the NPAs of aparticular bank, how they aregenerated and how securitizationworks in reducing NPAs. Tellingcomplete procedure followed by thebank along with required proofs.

They canfind out the areas in which thepatient satisfaction level is low andcan develop a model for improvingit, thereby helping the hospital toretain customers and increaserevenue.
Gap AnalysisStudents can use the SERVQUALscale to measure the service gapsexisting in the service deliverysystem of the hospital. They canfind out the causes of the existinggaps. Finally they can developstrategies to close those gaps andthereby improving the servicedelivery.
TAT of LaboratoryProcedures
Turn Around Time (TAT) is the timeperiod between collection of samplefor diagnostic test and delivery of

NABH is the body responsible foraccreditation of hospitals in Indiawhich certifies the qualitymanagement practices in thehospitals. NABH has developedcertain guidelines and set standardsfor hospital to be certified. Studentshave to evaluate the servicedelivery system of the hospital asper the NABH guidelines and have
to compare the status of thehospital with the benchmark set byNABH. Finally they have to suggestand recommend the hospitals toreach the NABH standards. This willhelp hospital to attract morepatients especially internationalpatients thereby increasing therevenue.
Medical AuditMedical audit is one of the majorprocess for achieving qualityhealthcare service delivery.
