DIVISION 2 - DEMOLITION/SHORING
1. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY SHORING WHERE REQUIRED DURINGCONSTRUCTION. SHORING SHALL BE DESIGNED & DETAILED UNDER THE DIRECTSUPERVISION OF A QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER REGISTERED IN THE STATE OFMICHIGAN. SHORING PROCEDURES, DESIGNS AND DETAILS SHALL BE SUBMITTED FORREVIEW PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF WORK, ALLOW (2) WEEKS FOR ENGINEER TOREVIEW.
2. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING ERECTION PROCEDURE ANDSEQUENCING AND TO SUBMIT WRITTEN PROCEDURES TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THESTRUCTURE AND IT'S COMPONENTS DURING ERECTION.
3. FIELD VERIFY ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS PRIOR TO DEMOLITION. IF CONDITIONS EXIST THATARE DIFFERENT FROM WHAT IS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS, NOTIFY ARCHITECT FORDIRECTION BEFORE PROCEEDING.

DIVISION 3 - CONCRETE
1. THE LATEST REVISION OF THE FOLLOWING CODES GOVERN THE DESIGN, DETAILING,FABRICATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF ALL REINFORCED CONCRETE:
A. BUILDING CODE REQUIREMENTS FOR REINFORCED CONCRETE ACI 318.
B. DETAILS & DETAILING OF CONCRETE REINFORCEMENT ACI 315.
2. ALL DEFORMED BAR REINFORCING SHALL BE ASTM A615 GRADE 60.
3. ALL WELDED WIRE FABRIC SHALL BE ASTM A185 FLAT SHEETS ONLY.
4. ALL CONCRETE SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM 28-DAY COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH (f'c) OF 4000 PSI,3" TO 5" SLUMP AND A WATER/CEMENT RATIO OF 0.45 MAXIMUM. ALL EXTERIOR CONCRETE(INCLUDING FOUNDATION WALLS AND FOOTINGS) SHALL BE AIR ENTRAINED (6%%% ±1%%%).
5. ALL CONCRETE MIXES SHALL BE DESIGNED FOR EXPOSURE CLASSES F3, SO, P1 & C2.
6. SPLICES FOR DEFORMED BARS SHALL BE CLASS B WITH APPLICABLE INCREASES FOR BARSPACING, COVER, TOP BAR EFFECT ETC. PER ACI 318.
7. CONCRETE SHALL BE TESTED BY AN INDEPENDENT TESTING AGENCY. A SET OF (3) CONCRETE TEST CYLINDERS SHALL BE MADE AND TESTED FOR COMPRESSION STRENGTH AT 7 AND 28 DAYS OR EVERY 50 CUBIC YARDS OF CONCRETE CAST (MINIMUM OF (1) SET PER DAY OF CASTING). ALSO SLUMP AND UNIT WEIGHT TESTS SHALL BE PERFORMED EVERY OTHER TRUCK LOAD. CONTRACTOR MADE CONCRETE TEST CYLINDERS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
8. PROVIDE BENT CORNER BARS IN ALL WALLS AND FOOTINGS OF THE SAME SIZE ANDNUMBER AS THE CONTINUOUS REINFORCEMENT.

USE PRIMING METHODS THAT RESULT IN FULL COVERAGE OFJOINTS, CORNERS, EDGES, AND EXPOSED SURFACES. TOUCH-UP DAMAGED OR MISSING PAINTAFTER STEEL ERECTION IS COMPLETE. DIVISION 31 - FOUNDATIONS/BACKFILL
1. FOUNDATIONS ARE DESIGNED FOR A MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE BEARING CAPACITY OF 2000 PSF.FOUNDATIONS SHALL BEAR ON NATURAL UNDISTURBED SOILS OR ON ENGINEERED FILL.
2. THE OWNER WILL RETAIN THE SERVICES OF A GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER TO MONITOR THEFOUNDATION WORK AND DETERMINE THE QUALITY OF THE SOIL AT ALL FOOTING LOCATIONS. IFUNSUITABLE MATERIALS ARE ENCOUNTERED AT THE FOOTING LOCATIONS, THE UNSUITABLESHALL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED OR THE FOOTINGS LOWERED AT THE DIRECTION OF THEENGINEER.

ISOLATE EXPANSION TANKS AND DETERMINE THAT HYDRONIC SYSTEM IS FULL OF WATER. 4. SUBJECT PIPING SYSTEM TO HYDROSTATIC TEST PRESSURE THAT IS NOT LESS THAN 1.5 TIMES THE SYSTEM'S WORKING PRESSURE. TEST PRESSURE SHALL NOT EXCEED MAXIMUM PRESSURE FOR ANY VESSEL, PUMP, VALVE, OR OTHER COMPONENT IN SYSTEM UNDER TEST. VERIFY THAT STRESS DUE TO PRESSURE AT BOTTOM OF VERTICAL RUNS DOES NOT EXCEED 90 PERCENT OF SPECIFIED MINIMUM YIELD STRENGTH OR 1.7 TIMES THE "SE" VALUE IN APPENDIX A IN ASME B31.9, "BUILDING SERVICES PIPING." 5.
