Nimbus is an innovative Cloud based fire alarm management system providing control and monitoring where you need it...
Nimbus is a non-intrusive add-on to the range of Ampac fire control panels and communicates to a cloud hosted database using the Nimbus Gateway. Events are recorded to an infinite log that can be accessed via a standard web browser or mobile device. Nimbus is the ideal management tool for service, building and estate managers who need to maintain a life time electronic log of their fire alarm systems and generate compliance reports.
Features
• Five products in one (Email, Web based event log management & 3 Apps)
• Generate reports
• Record weekly test
• Receive event notifications
• Record additional data to device activity
• Provides independent evidence of testing
• Non-intrusive and simple to install
Introduction
The primary application of Nimbus is to provide
location specific notification of an event direct to the
registered users. In addition, all commissioning,
servicing and maintenance data is readily available,
providing a history of performance and day to day
activities.
Replacing the conventional paper log book, Nimbus is
the ideal tool for service, building & estate managers
who need to maintain a life time electronic log of their
fire alarm systems and generate compliance reports.
System Capacity
Managing any number of Fire Alarm systems can be
time consuming and prone to errors, especially when
spread over a large area and serviced & maintained
by different companies. Nimbus centralises all your
Fire Alarm systems activity through a single common
platform detailing electronic history of the Fire Alarm
throughout its use and life.
Secure & Robust
Nimbus is cloud hosted in a secure and robust
platform with automatic failover and redundancy
providing maximum availability.
Installation
Simple to install, the Nimbus Gateway can be installed
& connected within minutes with connectivity to the
Nimbus cloud via 3G or IP where a network
infrastructure exists.
Users
Any number of recipients can receive notifications
based on the type of Fire System event: Fire, Pre-
alarm, Fault, Disablements etc. Each notification
details the event action, the associated control panel,
device type and description label.
Administration
A Nimbus Manager administrates their own account
and can add/edit/delete any number of Clients, Sites
and Users. Users are allocated varying permissions to
define which Fire Alarm systems can be viewed,
which reports can be generated, and which
notifications to receive.
Applications include:
• Airports
• Shopping Centres
• Hospitals
• University Campus
• Industrial Sites
• Schools and Hotels
• City Wide Housing Authorities
• Power Generation

3 Nimbus Applications
Nimbus Notify
Nimbus Engineer
&
Nimbus Weekly Test
Utilising push notifications allows a smartphone to receive and display Nimbus events even when the smartphone is locked and the application closed.
Nimbus Notify is totally configurable with selectable sounds, repeat alerts with the user able to add notes documenting the cause of the event, ideal for recording false or unwanted alarms.
Nimbus Engineer
Nimbus Weekly Test
Nimbus Notify
Notifications detail client name, site name, event type, and
device description. The associated panel, loop, address,
zone # and description are also displayed in an easy to
read format aiding response.
Nimbus Notify supports iOS (iPhone) and Android
smartphone platforms.
Site engineers can receive alarm confirmation as tests are performed during a scheduled service period or during system commissioning.
Record and log - Pass/Fail results with comments & photographs stored within Nimbus for retrieval as a later date. Single engineer testing makes Nimbus Engineer the perfect service tool for fire alarm engineers.
Nimbus Engineer supports the Android Smartphone platform.
Notifies the user of a pending ‘fire alarm weekly test’ with specific instructions as to which Manual Call Point should be tested.
User defined pre and post test tasks can be configured, for example, parties to be informed along with any potential site specific instructions.
Nimbus Weekly Test supports the Android Smartphone platform.
Testing
Producing reports based on Fire System testing has
always been challenging. Service & maintenance
companies have different methods of reporting what
has been tested (engineer hand written dockets,
print-outs from control panels, marked up site
drawings, coloured stickers attached to each device),
all of which are prone to inaccuracy and do not
provide proof that testing has been carried out.
Event Log
Fire Alarm control panels have a limited internal
memory to log activity. It is not unusual for fire
systems, especially when networked panels are
deployed, to have more detection devices and manual
call points than the internal memory can record
collectively. Fire Alarm control panel printers are
temperamental, prone to jamming and running out of
paper. Print-outs provide limited information, can be
difficult to read/store, and are not retrievable if lost.
Nimbus provides an extensive searchable event log.
Asset List
Nimbus creates and maintains an asset list of all the
fire alarm components quantifying and detailing each
panel, loop, addressable device, type and description
label.
Reports
Nimbus records Serving and Weekly Test activity to
specific logs and presents them in pre-defined annual
summary format. Users may also generate specific
reports based on their own search criteria: Date/Time,
Mode, Event, Panel, Loop and Device.
Communications to Nimbus
The FireFinder control panels communicate with
Nimbus using the Nimbus Gateway Module which can
be installed inside the control panel itself.
The Gateway module communicates to Nimbus using
either wireless GPRS (Edge/GSM (2G), UMTS (3G)
and is supplied with roaming SIM or by Ethernet using
the sites I.T. infrastructure with connection to the
internet.
