Samba Service Setup

The Samba service is the file sharing service of the Suse Linux Enterprise

Server 9.0 operating system. To ensure the normal read and write of the LMT

software on the GBAM, you must set up Samba service after installing the

Suse Linux Enterprise Server 9.0 operating system.

Software Structure O&M software: The O&M software of the BSC6000 consists of OMU

software, LMT software, and M2000 software. OMU software: The OMU software runs on the GBAM. It performs O&M

functions. The operating system is Linux. LMT software: The LMT software is installed in an LMT (a local computer).

It provides a Graphic User Interface (GUI). The operating system is Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional.

M2000 software: The M2000 is Huawei's integrated network management system. It carries out network configuration and centralized management of alarm and performance data.

The M2000 software consists of M2000 server software and M2000 client software.

The M2000 server software runs in Solaris and the database is Sybase. The M2000 client software provides a GUI. It runs in Windows 2000

Professional or Windows XP Professional.

Software Installation & Upgrade Preparation

Preparing installation disks before installation and upgrade OMU software installation disk/installation file LMT software installation disk/installation file

License According to relevant process, apply corresponding License.

Configuration Data According to the HUAWEI BSC6000 Data Configuration Guide,

Configuration the data of boards, the data of Abis interface, the data of

Ater interface, the data of A interface, the data of Pb interface, and

commissioning data. Ensure the exactness of the preceding data.


Obtaining Installation Information

Checking item Remarks Password of root user on GBAM

Initial IP address of the server The initial status of all the four Ethernet adapters is not set. The information to be obtained is the external network IP address allocated by the GBAM, the sub network mask, and the default gateway.

OMU Software Installation

Use either of the following two methods to install the OMU software: Install the OMU software through the network if you are not on site. Install the OMU software through the CD driver of the GBAM if you are on

site.


Network Installation Copying version software to GBAM

Visit the http://support.huawei.com to obtain the OMU installation file and

save the file to the PC that is to be connected with the GBAM. Double-click the Internet Explorer icon and type the IP address (for

example, \\10.161.72.254) of the GBAM to connect the GBAM. Double-click the BSC6000 folder.

Network Installation Copying version software to

GBAM Type the user name and

password to open the

BSC6000 folder. Copy the OMU installation file

(for example, OMU-9.1-

1.i586.rpm) saved on the PC to

the directory \BSC6000\install\

of the GBAM.


Network Installation

Enable the PuTTY software (terminal login software) on the PC. In the Host Name (or IP address) text box, type the IP address (for

example, \\10.161.72.254) of the GBAM and then click Open. A remote login

window is displayed. Log in to the GBAM as a root user.


OMU Software Installation CD installation

Put the OMU installation CD into the CD driver of the GBAM. Log in to the GBAM as a root user. Run the cd /media/cdrom command in the interface of the

operating system Suse Linux Enterprise Server 9.0 to replace the current directory with \media\cdrom.

Difference between network installation and CD installation For the installation on the GBAM server, the current directory of network

installation is /BSC6000/install/; and the current directory of CD

installation is /media/cdrom. In this document, the /BSC6000/install is the current directory. If you need

to install CDs on the site, run the cd /media/cdrom command to replace

the current directory into /media/cdrom. The subsequent installations of network are the same as that of CD.



Step1: Run the cd /BSC6000/install/ command (CD installation

command: cd /media/cdrom) to modify the current directory.


Step2: Run the rpm -ivh omu-9.1-1.i586.rpm command to install the OMU

software



Step3: The installation is complete. A prompt is displayed, as shown in the

following figure.



Step4: Run the omuctrl cfg command to perform network

configurations.



Step5: Type the external IP address (for example, \\10.161.72.254)



Step6 ： Type the netmask of the external IP address (for example, \\

255.255.255.0)



Step7: Type the default gateway of the external IP address (for example, \\

10.161.72.1)



Step8 ： Check if the displayed IP address, IP netmask, and IP gateway

are correct. If all the parameters are correct, type yes. Then the external settings

are active. If the parameters are not correct, type no. Then modify the faulty

parameter into a correct one.



Step9: Type yes to start the OMU software



Step10: If the prompt OK, success in starting omu processes! is

displayed, the OMU software is successfully started.







Chapter 5 Host Software Installation

LMT Software Installation

Double-click under the directory of installation files. The Welcome dialog box

is displayed.



Click Next. The Software License Agreement dialog box is displayed.


Read the software license agreement carefully. Click Yes to start the setup.

The User Information dialog box is displayed.



Type the following contents in the text boxes: Type your user name in the Name text box. Type your company name in the Company text box. Type the serial number provided by Huawei in the Serial text box.

Click Next. The Choose Destination Location dialog box is displayed.



Choose Destination folder of software installation. Click Next. The Select Components dialog box is displayed.



In the Components list box, select the required components (you are

recommended to select all). The Description box shows the functions of

corresponding components. Click Next. The Setup Confirm dialog box is

displayed.



Confirm that the current settings are correct. Then click Next. The File

copying window prompts. After copying files is complete, the setup finished dialog box is displayed.

Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now. or No, I will restart my computer later. according to the actual situation. After the LMT

software(V900R001) is installed, the BSC6000 LMT can work normally

without computer restarts.




Click Finish to complete the setup.



After installing the BSC6000 Local Maintenance Terminal, choose Start>

Programs > HUAWEI Local Maintenance Terminal >

BSC6000V900R001C01 to check if all the required components are installed

successfully. The components of the BSC6000 Local Maintenance Terminal are listed as

follows: BSC6000 Local Maintenance Terminal BSC6000 Site Maintenance Terminal Alarm Convert Tool Uninstall Local Maintenance Terminal Performance Browser Tool


Logging In to the LMT Choose Start > Programs > HUAWEI Local Maintenance Terminal >

BSC6000V900R001C01 > BSC6000 Local Maintenance Terminal to start

the BSC6000 LMT. Type your user name and password in the text boxes and

select a proper server from the BSC Name drop-down list box. Click OK to

start the LMT software.


Logging In to the LMT

Succeed to log in to the LMT. The main interface of BSC6000 Local

Maintenance Terminal prompts.

Downloading the BSS Board Software Pay attention to the following points when using the FTP tool:

After the BSC6000 LMT is started, check the icon on the lower right side of the system to confirm if the FTP Server is started. If there is no such icon, check if the files of the FTP tool are damaged.

If the FTP Server cannot be started, the possible cause is that the port 21 is seized. Check if the port 21 is seized.

Do not manually stop the FTP Server during a file transfer; otherwise, the download will fail.


Downloading the BSS Board Software To download the BSC board software, do as follows:

Copy the whole set of released software (including the version configuration file) to the directory Common\SWM of the BSC6000 LMT.

Save the files of the BSC board software to the corresponding folder under the directory Common\swm\ in the BSC6000 LMT.

Save the License file to the License folder. Save the extended BIOS file to the extbios folder. Save the patch file to the directory Software\patch. Save other files to the Software folder. Ensure the consistency between the file vercfg.xml and the software.

Log in to the BSC6000 LMT and keep online.Choose BSC Software > Maintain BSC Software > Download Software.

The BSC Software Download Wizard dialog box is displayed ----- Click Next. The Confirm dialog box is displayed ------ Click Yes. The BSC Software Load Wizard dialog box is displayed----- Click Finish


Downloading the BSS Board Software

To download the BTS board software, do as follows:Copy the whole set of released software to the path D:\HW

LMT\Common, for example.

Log in to the BSC6000 LMT and keep online.

Choose BTS Maintenance > Download BTS Software. The Download BTS Software window is displayed Click Download to download the BTS board software.

Upgrade Precautions

Ensure that the upgraded BIOS matches with the new software. The networking connection should match with the upgraded networking

configuration. The upgraded subracks should perform DIP according to the new

configuration. Check clock connection. Ensure the clock connection are matching with the

configuration of upgraded clock. Check E1 cables. Ensure that the A interface E1 cables, the Abis interface E1

cables, and the Ater interface E1 cables are consistent with the upgraded

data configurations.


Upgrade Precautions

OMU should be accessed with only one M2000. Do not start the OMU Core manually. If the OMU Core starts beyond the

limited time, the system may start the minimum configuration and may be

locked. As a result, you cannot configure manually. Only after the

bakcfgflag.txt file is deleted, you can perform operations on the system. Before initializations of boards are complete, do not perform configuration for

boards; otherwise configuration data may be inconsistent with OMU after

boards start.


Unsuccessful Load of Host Software

If the LMT shows the unsuccessful load of the BSS board, check the following items: If a subrack cannot be loaded, check the DIP of the subrack. If a board cannot be loaded, remove and insert the board. Check the connection of network cable. If a remote subrack cannot be

loaded, check the connection of the Ater interface. Check if the file under the /BSC6000/bscswm/area1/software directory on

the GBAM service is complete. Check if the data of the board and that of the Ater interface is configured

correctly.

is VxWorks, which is a real-time operating system.

Middle ware: Middle wares makes the upper application software independent of the lower operating system. It is useful for the reuse of software functions of different platforms.
