- Young writers express their ideas in several ways, such as drawing pictures, trying new words, and talking through their thoughts (Culham 68).

- Primary writers may draw “several pictures on the same topic, in sequential order” as a framework for organization (Culham 102).

- Culham explains, “Voice is the writer’s ability to express personality in language, for a particular purpose and audience” (138).

- Providing students with opportunities to draw can help them express ideas and organize their thoughts. I can provide my students with opportunities to express themselves through drawing en route to writing.

- When our class works on narrative essays, I can allow students to draw a sequence of events to structure their writing.

- How can I teach audience awareness in my classroom?
