PROGRAM
ON CONTEMPORARY
CHANGING DIMENSION OF LAW
IN INDIA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE
TO COVID-19 (ONLINE)
15th June-21st June 2020Amity Law School,
Amity University Uttar Pradesh(Lucknow Campus)
The changing dynamics of social, cultural, political,
legal, and economic aspects of human life need
public discourse especially in India where the
societal matrix is complex and wired with
conundrums of its own. The immediate pre-Covid
Era in India witnessed protracted legal battles
culminating such as the Ayodhya dispute, ushered
in a new stage for vocalisation of LGBTQ
communities, encouraged extensive discourse on
the delicate balance of fundamental rights and
religious freedoms as evident from the Sabarimala
Judgment , and inc reased impetus on
strengthening of Indian diplomacy in the fields of
defence and commerce. Back then, these issues
were affected and determined on the basis of the
extant factors known to each and everyone us.
However, post-Covid Era has ushered in a dramatic
change in how we would handle the intricacies of
Indian society. This is palpable in the newer
problems emerging in the form of, inter alia, rising
familial disputes, concerns over human rights of
migrants, implication of shutting down religious
institutions, fear of an unparalleled recession,
heightened awareness about public hygiene, and
significant restriction on the activities of the citizens
in the form of lockdown.
The nearly apocalyptic nature of COVID-19 has
forced human population across the globe to be on
the back foot. Within a span of a handful of months,
human agencies of all kinds and degrees have been
compelled to overhaul their ideological and
institutional perspectives and infrastructure to offer
a robust and educative response to this pandemic.
Educational institutions have been at the forefront
in the adaption of changes so as to ensure that
holistic intellectual development is not thwarted even
when the entire human society has come to a standstill.
Without public discourse and a development-friendly
inclination, the society will lump into stagnation-and
Amity University, Lucknow Campus, is a part of the
global initiative to ensure that the same is prevented,
and the spark remains alive.
