ThispurposeofthisletteristorequestyoursupportandpermissionforallowingoneofyourstudentsandamemberoftheOregonCrusadersDrum&BugleCorps,earlyreleasefromclassesattheendof2017SpringTerm.

TheOregonCrusadersisanon-profityouthperformancegroupthattoursandcompetesnationallywithothergroupsduringthesummer,travelingover10,000miles.Thisisaverycompetitiveandhigh-levelperformingteamof150like-mindedstudentswhoarepassionateanddedicatedtothisactivity.Thisuniqueeducationalprogramisintense,bothphysicallyandemotionally,andworkstoinstillprofessionalism,discipline,focus,andacommitmenttoexcellencethroughoutthesummer.

InthePacificNorthwest,weareatacompetitivedisadvantagewithothergroupsbasedinotherareasofthecountryduetoalaterreleasefromschoolsintheSpring.MostgroupsbegintheirsummerrehearsalstheweekafterMemorialDay.However,inthePacificNW,mostschoolsarenotfinisheduntilmid-June.

Thisyear,wearestartingoursummerrehearsalsontheeveningofMay26,2017.Weareaskingstudentstorequestearlyrelease,anoptiontotakefinalsearly,orwhateverisrequiredtoenablethemtostartOregonCrusadersrehearsalsonMay26th.Weacknowledgethatourstudent’sformaleducationisapriorityandshouldalwaystakeprecedence.Wealsounderstandthatearlyreleasemaynotbepossibleinallcaseshowever,weareaskingforyoursupportandcooperationinthismatter,ifatallpossible,andtoreleasethemassoonaspossibleifnotonMay26th.Wehavealsobeensuccessfulinproctoringtestsforcollegestudents,ifthatisanoption.
