American Journal of Physiology (AJP) consolidated—www.physiology.org The consolidated American Journal of Physiology (AJP) ranks as one of the most frequently cited publications among all physiology journals listed in the Journal Citation Index. Published in two monthly volumes by the American Physiological Society, the consolidated AJP brings you approximately 2,600 articles encompassing 21,000 pages annually. The consolidated edition of the AJP comprises the seven highly regarded journals of the American Physiological Society: AJP–Cell PhysiologyAJP–Endocrinology and MetabolismAJP–Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology
Journal of Neurophysiology—jn.orgThe Journal of Neurophysiology publishes original articles on the function of the nervous system. All levels of function are included, from the membrane and cell to systems and behavior. Experimental approaches include molecular neurobiology, cell culture and slice preparations, membrane physiology, developmental neurobiology, functional neuroanatomy, neurochemistry, neuropharmacology, systems electrophysiology, imaging and mapping techniques, and behavioral analysis. Experimental preparations may be invertebrate or vertebrate species, including humans. Theoretical studies are acceptable if they are tied closely to the interpretation of experimental data and elucidate principles of broad interest.
Journal of Applied Physiology—jappl.physiology.orgThe Journal of Applied Physiology publishes original papers that deal with diverse areas of research in applied physiology, especially those papers emphasizing adaptive and integrative mechanisms. Adaptive physiology includes 1) inherent adaptations such as those related to development, aging, and pathophysiological conditions and 2) adaptations to the external environment such as those occurring with exercise, microgravity, hypoxia, hypo- and hyperbaria, and hypo- and hyperthermic conditions. Integrative physiology includes 1) horizontal integration across organ systems and 2) vertical integration from molecule to cell to organ. In all areas of applied physiology, the use of cutting-edge techniques including molecular and cellular biology is strongly encouraged.
Physiological Reviews—prv.orgPhysiological Reviews provides state-of-the-art coverage of timely issues in the physiological and biomedical sciences. It appeals to physiologists, neuroscientists, cell biologists, biophysicists, and clinicians with special interest in pathophysiology. Topics are covered in a broad and comprehensive manner. These articles are very useful in teaching and research as they provide interesting, clearly written updates on important new developments.
Physiological Genomics—physiolgenomics.org Physiological Genomics publishes the results of a wide variety of experimental and computational studies from human and model systems to link genes and pathways to physiological functions. The journal encourages the submission of research utilizing genomics, epigenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and other systems approaches together with novel technologies linking genes to the function of complex biological pathways.
Physiology—physiologyonline.orgPhysiology publishes invited review articles written by leaders in their fields. These articles are peer reviewed and highlight major advances in the broadly defined field of physiology. The journal also publishes shorter articles that either present important emerging topics and technologies or differing points of view. Finally, the journal highlights and briefly summarizes some of the most exciting new papers in physiology. With a new format that is both exciting and attractive, the journal is a valuable tool for researchers, educators, and students.
Journals Digital Library The Journals Digital Library of the American Physiological Society is a single package of the Society’s 10 peer-reviewed original research and 2 review journals. This package is offered at a significant discount off the individual title rates. Listed below are the journals included in the Digital Library:
9 AJP-Cell Physiology 9 AJP-Endocrinology and Metabolism 9 AJP-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology 9 AJP-Heart and Circulatory Physiology
APS Journal Legacy Content—ajplegacy.physiology.orgThe APS Journal Legacy Content is available online only and can be purchased separately at a one-time charge. It is a separate program from the Subscription Program in that you pay once for the perpetual access to the online content from all APS journals from 1898 to 1996-1998, depending on the journal. The content goes back to the first issue of each of the APS journals-including APS’s first journal in 1898, the American Journal of Physiology.
