Grants from PetSmart Charities, Petco Foundation, and the Ohio Pet Fund, enabled PetFix to offer subsidized spay/neuter surgeriesfor over 840 animals throughout 2017.It’s hard for many of us to imagine not having enough money to care for our beloved pets. But that is the reality for many cat and dog caregivers in our region. PetFix helps people spay and neuter their pets at prices they can afford. By eliminating the financial barrier that stops many pet parents from having their animals fixed, PetFix can proactively prevent pet homelessness.

Recently, feral cats have been in the local news ascities try to figure out how to deal with them. We’ve been excited to work with partners like Community Cat Companions and others to help humanely control feral cat colonies. In a TNR program, feral cats are humanely trapped, then neutered, vaccinated and ear-tipped before being returned to their outdoor homes. TNR stops the breeding cycle and stabilizes the size of the colony so it will decline naturally and humanely over time. Through directed gifts from generous PetFix donors and the help of supporters like you, coupled with our expanded surgical capacity, we spayed orneutered over 870 feral cats in 2017!

“The existence of the PetFix spay/neuter clinic enabled me to put a dent in the population growth of feral/abandoned cats in my neighborhood. The fees of my regular vet would have made this prohibitive. Thank you for providing a much-needed service.” –Susan W.

Last summer, PetFix staff learned the latest techniques for reducing stress in cats and dogs. The right approach to stress reduction can decrease the need for sedation and lessen potential health risks for pets. During hands-on training at the clinic, staff learned from applied animal behaviorist, Traci Shreyer, the body language of fear in dogs and cats, and how to resolve these fears. This means better outcomes for animals, and a safer workplace for humans!

Pet overpopulation remains the number one cause ofdeath and suffering for companion animals. It’s a problem we can FIX – but only with your help. PetFix Northeast Ohio is a 501c3 non-profit organization [we do not receive any government funding] which means we rely on the kind contributions of our donors to continue this lifesaving work. If you want to make a difference and help save lives, please consider making a donation today. You can mail your gift using the enclosed envelope or donate online by visitingour website at www.petfixnortheastohio.org.To support us year-round, please consider becoming a monthly donor! All donations are tax-deductible.

PetFix transports dogs and cats every week fromarea shelters, spays or neuters them, and returns them that same day. By keeping the unending flow of animals moving through the shelter and into their forever homes, there will always be room for the next animal in need to get a second chance. PetFix also partners with community organizations, rescues and humane organizations whohelp us provide care to pet owners in their service area who may not have transportation to the PetFix clinic.

We are honored to join with these transportpartners to provide a better life for companionanimals in our region.

pet overpopulation is a problem of the past and allcats and dogs are born wanted and loved.

ON AUGUST 1, 2017, PetFix reached another milestone. We performed our 60,000th surgery since beginning operations in 2006! With the help of donors like you, we’vebeen able to prevent well over a quarter of a million dogs and cats from struggling to survive on the streets of Northeast Ohio or being needlessly euthanized simply because there aren’t enough homes for them.We could not do this lifesaving work without you, our supporters of spay and neuter!
