Verizon launched ThingSpace IoT (Internet of Things) platform to simplify the development and deployment of
the IoT applications. Followings show the insights regarding Verizon strategy perspectives for developing the IoT
connected services to make Verizon as the IoT service leader in 2016.
Connected Cars
US20150268059 illustrates the system that provides better information to make decisions based on sharing vehicle
health information received from diagnostic systems on the car and trip information from the driver mobile
devices. The system generates the interactive map based on the trip information and the vehicle health information.
The system provides notifications for the drivers based on the trip information and the vehicle health information.
The system receives calendar information and generates interactive maps and notifications based on the vehicle
health information and the calendar information.

US20150321605 illustrates the system that detects the anomaly relating to a vehicle (e.g., damage, maintenance
wear-and-tear items) based on image analysis techniques. The system determines the conditions under which the
anomaly occurred and outputs an alert regarding the anomaly. The system receives images of the vehicle from
camera devices implemented as part of the smart home monitoring system. The system identifies, based on the
images, the anomaly associated with the vehicle.
US20140108161 illustrates the system that includes the landmark data subsystem providing landmark data and the
driving directions subsystem. The driving directions subsystem generates driving directions in response to a
request received from the access device. The driving directions include the subset of the landmark data, which is
representative of landmarks located along a route defined by the driving directions. The driving directions
subsystem provides data representative of the driving directions to the access device.
US20150134428 illustrates the electronic toll collection that allows vehicle users to pay tolls using a toll road. The
toll system communication device can have user credentials provided to it that are associated with a user payment
account. As the user travels a toll road, the toll system communication device is interrogated at a toll booth
location. In response to the interrogation, the toll system communication device provides information identifying
the toll system communication device and associated user credentials.

US20150066545 illustrates the real-time parking guidance system. The parking management server receives
information on parking spots from parking managers. Each parking manager provides to the server information on
the location and availability of parking spots that the manager is responsible for. In turn, the user requests parking
information from the parking management server through an application running on the user device such as a
smart-phone. In response to the request, the user is provided with information on available parking spots located
within the vicinity of a requested location at a requested time.
Connected Home
People have a large number of appliances, tools, and other devices in their home. Many of these devices require
maintenance, inspections, or other services on regular or irregular schedules. However, it is challenging to track
service dates and proactively manage the various service schedules. US20150339634 illustrates the system that
provides the platform to manage maintenance and service requirements for home appliances. The system utilizes
the maintenance client application to register home appliances, track service histories, and connect users to service
technicians and/or parts suppliers.
Connected Healthcare
US20150169838 illustrates the system that provides the personalized information regarding physiological
conditions associated with a user (e.g., cholesterol, blood sugar, weight loss or gain, blood pressure). The personal
health platform calculates a minimum value, a maximum value, or a combination for a physiological condition of ©2015 TechIPm, LLC All Rights Reserved http://www.techipm.com/

the user. The personal health platform senses a measured value for the physiological condition from the user. The
personal health platform further presents the user interface depicting the measured value relative to the minimum
value, the maximum value, a historical measured value for the user, or a combination.
