Foundation for Annie Jeffrey Receives $1,000 Grant from Pioneer hi-Bred ioneerHi-Bred,aDuPontbusiness, recentlydonated$1,000totheFoundationforAnnieJeffreyfornewsurgeryequipmentfortheAnnieJeffreyHealthCenter.PioneerhasbeendoingbusinessinPolkCountyformanyyears.Givingbacktothecommunityisimportanttothebusiness.ThisgrantoriginatedwitharequestfromTimPallas,throughPioneerCommunityInvestment.Asthephil-anthropicarmofPioneer,CommunityInvestmentmakescontributionstocommunity-basedorganizationsonbehalfofthebusinessandemployees.ConsiderationforCommunityOutreachgrantsaregiventocommunitieswherePioneerrepresentatives,employ-eesandcustomersliveandworkandthatsupportquality-of-lifeinitiativestocreateanimproved,sustainablelifestyleforpeopleworldwide.

SusanhasworkedatAnnieJeffreyHealthCenterfor1½years.

Thenewemployeeschol-arshipprogramfundedbytheFoundationwillhelptheAnnieJeffreystaffcontinuetheeducationalopportunitiesneededforthemtoadvanceintheirhealth care field.

Annie Jeffrey health Fair heseventhannualAnnieJeffrey MemorialCountyFallHealthFairheldonOctober5thwasahugesuccess.Over 170 fairgoers, from a variety of Nebraskacommunities,visitedthehealthexhibitswith151takingadvantageofthediscountedcomprehensivehealthbloodprofiles. A healthy continental breakfast wasprovidedbyAnnieJeffrey’sstaff.

Thehealthfairisdesignedtobeaneventwherepeoplecanlearnabouttheirownhealthandobtaininformationaboutservicesprovidedinthearea.Thefairprovidedseveralinteractiveopportuni-tiesforthosewhovisited.Participantswereabletovisitdifferentboothswherevendorsprovidedfreebodyfatanalysis,oximetry,bloodtyping,complimentarymassages,bloodpressurescreening,skincancerscreening,andtoursoftheStarCareVhelicopterwereavailable.Severaladultsandchildrenreceivedtheirseason-

al flu vaccination from the Polk County HealthDepartment.

Therewere26vendorsatthefairpro-vidinghealthinformationandservices.ThisyearnewvendorsonhandincludedBeltonAudiologyHearingCenterandYorkHomeMedicalEquipment.TheAging Partners office from Lincoln con-ducted53SaharaBoneDensityscreen-

As a board certified GeneralSurgeon,Nagengastmanagesabroadspectrumofsurgicalconditionsaffect-ingalmostanyareaofthebody.Hecanestablishthediagnosisandprovidethepreoperative,operative,andpostoperativecaretosurgicalpatientsandisusuallyresponsibleforthecomprehensivemanage-mentofthetraumavictimorthecriticallyillsurgicalpatient.

Behind the scenes at Annie Jeffrey - surgery/OPJane HayswasbornandraisedinSouthDakota.SheismarriedtoChrisHaysandtheyhave2childrenEric,14andSamantha,10.Janegraduatedfromnursingschoolin1999andhasworkedatAnnieJeffreyeversince.Sheisthesurgerysupervisorandworksinthefollowingdepartments:nurs-ing,surgery,andGIclinic.ThethingJanelikesbestaboutworkingatAnnieJeffreyisthatshealreadyknowsmostofthepatientsshetakescareofandalsoenjoysthepeoplesheworkswith.WhenJaneisnotatworksheenjoysattendingherchildren’sactivi-tiesandquilting.

Kimberly Yungdahlworksasacirculatorinsurgery.ShewasbornandraisedinAlbi-on,NEandgraduatedfromMethodistCol-legewithaBachelorsdegreeinnursingin2002.KimberlymarriedherhusbandEricin2005andtheyhavetwoboysTanner,age3andCooper,age2whichkeepthembothverybusy.ShehasworkedatAnnieJeffreyfor6yearsasanurseandenjoystakingcareofpatientsandworkingatAnnieJeffrey.Sheworksinsurgery,urologyclinic,andnursing. She enjoys golfing, shopping, and readingwhenshecan.
