November28th,2017marked theCERBA Toronto Chapter's 12thAnnual Eurasia Construction andInfrastructure Conference. TheConference was held within theframework of Construct Canada,the international part of theBuildings Show, Canada's largestbuilding and construction tradeshow.Inrecognitionoftheimportanceof

constructionandinfrastructureworkto Canada and Eurasia, the main

themes of the event focused on urban development and redevelopmentopportunities,aswellasstateandmarketstandards,bylaws,andregulations.Twopanelsofdistinguishedspeakersmadepresentationsdrawingfromtheexperiences of Toronto and otherCanadian provinces, as well asinternational examples inKazakhstan,Russia, andBelarus.Theoverallthemewastoexploremarketsandseekoutconditionsfavourabletothe implementation of progressiveurbandevelopmentstrategies.

In other words, the CERBA EurasiaConstruction and InfrastructureConference was geared towardsupporting the initiatives ofconstruction companies looking toexpand their businesses intointernationalmarketsandseekfurthercooperation, collaboration, andnetworkingopportunities.As regards particular forms ofinfrastructure and construction inOntario and other provinces acrossCanada,urbandevelopmentpracticeswere extensively defined by MichaelInch, Vice President of Procurement,InfrastructureOntario;StevenHobbs,Director, Strategic Planning andPartnerships, the Canadian Councilfor Public-Private Partnerships; aswell as Alexander Elgin, PM., Urb.Design,B.Arch.UrbanStrategies.One unique characteristic of Canadaand its major metropolitan centreslike Toronto, was and still is thatthere is room for opportunity andgrowth.Intheeraofurbanizationandglobalization,themainfocusof

On an international scale,NurzhanAitmakhanov,EconomicCounselor, the Embassy ofKazakhstan in Canada, ValeryMaximov Acting Senior TradeCommissioner, Trade Mission ofRussiainCanada,VictorTarasov,Vice President, CanRos GroupInc., discussed cases acrossEurasia.Taking into account currentsocio-economic trends,construction and infrastructurethat supports global networks isexpected to accelerate. In orderto be able to adapt to thesetrends, it is critical to engagesupport at a global level , but

embracingpracticesthathavesucceededatalocallevel.

TheprogramsofthevisitingEurasiandelegationswererichwithone-on-onecontacts,sitevisitsandinformationseminars.CERBAwaspleasedtoconnectthevibrantToronto/Ontarioconstruction/infrastructuresectorwithmarketopportunities in Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia and is looking forward toseeinginterestedparticipantsduringtheConstructCanada2018.
