I am the current Design Director for a Hainan Urban Planning and Architecture Group in Haikou. The
contract for 2011 is currently awaiting my approval and signature. I return to Shanghai every two weeks
and will be in Shanghai this weekend.
In 2010, I registered a WOFE company in architectural design here in Shanghai in order for me to continue
my career in architecture in China. The Chinese Human Resources regulation for mandatory male age
retirement at 60 made it impossible for me to obtain a work permit as a foreign employee. Prior to this I was
employed with the American owned firm of Grigorian Design Group in Shanghai as Director of Architecture
for the past three years. New and challenging opportunities in architecture are always of interest to me. I
came to Shanghai in March 2005 and joined the Canadian owned design firm of K.F. Stone as senior
designer. Prior to this time I worked for Pellow and Associates Architects in Toronto, Adamson-Associates in
Port Credit and HOK Canada/ Urbana Architects in Toronto as a senior project/ design architect, followed
by a project architect position at Kneider Architects. The Toronto work experience was preceded by a sole
proprietor architectural practice in Hamilton which handled residential, medium sized commercial and
industrial projects.
The role as director of design includes dialogue with client to determine design direction and to manage
the local designers to develop the design and adhere to the design style approved by the client. I am
computer literate in all accepted programs in architecture. I have extensive experience and
knowledge acquired over the years in building design and construction documentation relative to the
Ontario Building Code and the National Building Code. Awareness and experience with other consultants
in the construction industry, (structural, mechanical and electrical) is an integral part of the development
of the design process and this experience would be an additional asset.
I would appreciate the opportunity of meeting with you to discuss how my experience and qualifications
could benefit your organization. Salary and employment terms are negotiable. Additional information on
project images is available at http://www.networx.on.ca/~ravennoire/hpmcv/020625-
02.htm and www.slideshare.net/designomni.
Yours truly,
