What makes a killer a
killer? In this article, we
get the impression of
that it is the surroun-
dings that influence this
reaction. Once again,
there may be talk of
”nature versus nurture”.
Maybe this wouldn’t ha-
ve happened, if he
hadn’t been kicked out
of school, if his parents
hadn’t been ignorant
and oblivious to his well-
being.
It is still a very wrong
action, but what can we
do to prevent this from
happening again?
A 19 year old frustra-
ted former student
went berserk at his
old school in Erfurt
(the same school that
kicked him out for a
lame and stupid rea-
son).
He simply felt like his
future was gone, he
just had to take his
anger out on innocent
people or it just click-
ed, for a few vital mi-
nutes, in his now ear-
lier misable life. No
one knows. But one
thing is for sure, the
lack of attention from
his ignorant parents
and the many flaws in
his upbringing certain-
ly had an influence on
him to do this horrible
crime.
The 19 neglated year
old was armed with a
pump gun and a gun.
He was wearing a
mask and was dres-
sed in deep black
clothes. Before shoo-
ting himself, he had
already shot 14 tea-
chers, two students
and a police officer.
He killed them ran-
domly, as he ran into
them, in the hallways
of the Gutenberg-
school. In Germany
the experts blame the
society. When we live
in a civilized world like
ours, then mass mur-
ders at schools
shouldn’t occur, but
unfortunately they do
because of lack of
attention to the stu-
dents. There is no one
else, but ourselves to
blame, we should be
able to see when con-
flicts like this ap-
proach. Friends and
family around the fe-
lon are the ones who
know him the best.
They should be able
to notice the problem,
and his sufferings. If
the problems are seen
and solved at an ear-
lier stage, many lives
will be rescued in the
future.

The issue might be that we
don’t have the social equip-

there is a lack of social

Erfurt. 18 people were
killed.
The German minister for
the interior affairs said. “We
need to ask ourselves the
question, what is wrong
with a society where such
situations can occur”. It has
been very common to
blame the murderer, who
unfortunately is a very easy
target. People rarely think
through the reasons for
such an incident and in-
stead they force them-
selves to think of this a
onetime experience. Peo-
ple believe that they cannot
prevent “psychopaths” like
the young German from
killing. Now, when school
shootings keep showing
up, we must try to find out
what drives these young
people to their extremely
violent acts.
What has made this young
boy so desperate? The
teenager may have had a
very difficult childhood.
This could have been with
drug abusing parents who
have been ignoring him. He
may as well have been a
victim for bullying and he
has definitely felt a hate
against teachers. His
schoolmates and teachers
must have been aware of
some of the issues he has
been dealing with. But in-

Germany was

mainly teachers.
On a normal school

killed 18 people. He
went through the
school hallways and
shot 14 teachers, 2
students and 1 po-

committed suicide.
It all started at

morning when some
students heard
noises similar to
