History
• 1988 – Florida Legislature enacted the Solid Waste Management Act and created the Solid Waste Management Trust Fund
• February 20, 1989 - Orange County BCC adopted three-phase recycling plan

• July 1990 - Recycling bins delivered to 120,000 households

• August 1, 1990 – Curbside collection began and Orange County Materials Recovery Facility opened
• 64.5 tons of recyclables processed on the first day
• Facility averaged 80 tons per day

• 2006 - Processing facility upgraded with new equipment and ability to process single-stream materials
• Facility can process 20 tons per hour
