Compared to last month: Holstein steers weighing under 350 lbs traded 55.00 – 62.00 lower, 350 – 450 lbs traded mostly 36.00 – 47.00 lower, 450 – 700 lbs traded mostly 11.00 – 16.00 lower on a very thin test, over 700 lbs traded mostly 4.00 – 5.00 higher on a very thin test. Trading activity was moderate on light buyer demand. The supply consisted of about 80% Holstein steers with the balance being mostly cross bred steers, Holstein heifers and Jersey steers. About 16% of the supply weighed over 600 lbs. Next Holstein feeder cattle sale will be held on Monday, October 6, 2014.

STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to last week: Slaughter lambs traded mostly steady to firm and feeder lambs traded 5.00 – 10.00 higher. Slaughter ewes and bucks traded steady to 5.00 higher. Slaughter kids traded mostly steady on a thin test. Slaughter nannies and billies mostly steady. Trade activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand. In the sheep supply 44% slaughter lambs and 23% feeder lambs, 29% slaughter ewes and bucks and the balance mostly replacement sheep. The goat supply consisted of 72% slaughter kids, 14% slaughter nannies and 14% slaughter billies and wethers. market was up slightly today in all classes of slaughter
cattle. Beef cows bounced back from last week with
lean ranging $110.00-129.50, fat beef cows averaged
$120.50. Lean Holstein slaughter cows ranged $106.00-
115.50, fats $110.00-119.50. The top 10 bulls ranged from
$139.50-153.50.
