Functions and BenefitsThe modules provide isolated signal conversion and conditioningfor automation and measurement applications. Each module has a3-way isolation and offers flexible interference suppression withplug-in filters. These are designed as 4-pole Butterworth or Besselfilters. Other orders and characteristics are available on request.With isolating and filtering, the modules are best suited for interfer-ence suppression in measurement and control circuits, protectionof SPCs and AD converters, galvanic isolation of line and signal circuits, as well as prevention of ground loops.

Filter CharacteristicsBessel is the better choice for square edge signals like rectanglepulses, as the signal is only marginally derogated:
4- pole Butterworth filters show ringing for square edge signals, which can reach up to 11 %. 4- pole Bessel filters reach only up to0.8 %, but separate not so sharply from passband to stop-band:
Low-noise with a residual ripple of < 2 mVpp and an accuracy of0,1 % makes the modules also best usable for data acquisitionapplications.Signal inputs and outputs are via BNC sockets resp. screw termi-nals on the front panel of the module and/or back panel of a 19“chassis/housing.Customer-specific adaptations can be provided in many ways fore.g. measurement ranges and gains.

CharacteristicsThe DP Cards offers digitized electrical isolation of signals. Thesignal is digitized by a 16 bit AD converter, then isolated by a fastoptocoupler, and finally transformed back to its analog value with a16 bit DA converter. Internal sample rates are 140 resp. 200 kHz.This technology assures extremely good characteristic values withregard to offset and accuracy drift, signal-to-noise ratio, and har-monic distortion factor. AD and DA converter pulses of severalcards can be synchronized with a central clock on a master cardversion.

CharacteristicsThe filters are designed for flexible interference suppression of sig-nals. The cut-off frequency of a TSA Module can be easily changedby inserting another filter. Besides the frequency another character-istics can be selected as well. By combination of 2 filters, an 8-polefilter can be created.
