Dr. Amal Kumar Biswas COE Post-doctoral ResearcherI was invited to give a Poster presentation on ESTABLISHMENT OF A LIGHT REGIME GIVING
OPTIMAL GROWTH WITHOUT STRESS RESPONSE IN RED SEA BREAM, Pagrus major in the 7th
Korea-Japan, Japan-Korea Joint Symposium on Aquaculture which was held in Busan, Koreafrom 20-21 October, 2006. I departed for Korea on 19th October, 2006 and my presentationwas scheduled on 20th October, 2006.
I was beside my poster to reply to the viewers questions during the poster session. I havealso heard a number of presentations given by the invited speakers. I have also spent a lot oftime to view the posters of different related fields. I was also visited the National FisheriesResearch and Development Institute to see their on going research activities. On different day,we were visited some aquaculture installation and discussed about someaquaculture related topics among ourselves.
Overall, it was interesting and helped me to learn a lot related to myworks. I was returned back on 22nd October, 2006. I would like to thankthe 21st Century COE Program of Kinki University to provide me thefinancial support for this travels. Last but not least, I would also like toextend my thanks to all of my colleagues.

Biswajit Kumar Biswas,
ESTABLISHMENT OF FORMULATED DIET FOR REARING OF THE PACIFIC BLUEFIN TUNA JUVENILE, Thunnus orientalis
I came from Bangladesh. I finished B.Sc. in Fisheries Hon s from KhulnaUniversity, Bangladesh and Masters of Science in Aquaculture in 2005 from Ghent University,Belgium.
After my graduation, I get admitted in Kinki University, Japan to pursue my PhD under thegraduate school of Agriculture and also got the opportunity to work as a Research Assistant inCOE Center of Excellence project, Fisheries Laboratory of Kinki University, Uragami.
As it is well known that the Pacific bluefin tuna PBT is highly valued as a food fish aroundthe world especially favored in Japan, where they can fetch a high price in the raw seafoodmarket. However, a suitable juvenile diet is still an unresolved problem. It could be the best ideato ensure their survival in the juvenile stage providing balanced artificial diet and adequatefeeding in hatchery condition. In a journey to develop formulated diet for PBT, I performed threeconsecutive trials in last year. So far obtained results demonstrated that 62% protein, 18% lipidand 11.5% carbohydrate could be incorporated into artificial diet for PBT juvenile mass culture. The formulated diet can be used successfully as an alternative of ishidai larvae in mass cultureof PBT juvenile, which can help to reduce the operational cost and time with regard to thejuvenile diet. I have set up my mind to establish a nutritionally balanced diet that will ensure theimproved juvenile quality and mass production in future of PBT.
