The Intracompany Stock Transfer business scenario enables you to transfer stock from one site to another site within the same company. You create the stock transfer order in the sending site. Intracompany stock transfer can be initiated either as an outcome of planning or manually during execution. You complete the outbound processing steps in the sending site in the same way as you would complete outbound processing when based on sales orders. When you create the outbound delivery, an advised inbound delivery notification is created in the receiving site automatically. You then complete the inbound processing steps in the receiving site in the same way as you would complete inbound processing when based on purchase orders.
If you work with externally-managed locations, note the following:The use of the Third-Party Logistics scenario is subject to the licensing of a warehouse provider communication add-on via the SAP Store. Note that the licensing of the warehouse provider communication add-on may be subject to additional fees

The Planning Supply business process allows you to carry out material and capacity planning effectively. You are provided with an up-to-date overview of the demand and supply situation for either a product and supply planning area combination, or a product, product specification, and a supply planning area combination. With the introduction of planned stock transfer as a part of planning supply to meet the required demand, the system proposes planned intracompany stock transfers. The stock transfer proposals are visible on the demand side, that is, planning runs can be based on a stock transfer proposal.
The multi-level planning run calculates the required supply and then creates the supply and demand pegging network accordingly, also taking into consideration the selected product specification. If planned order is created manually product specification must be provided for specified products.
If there are planning issues, the system raises exceptions to alert you to them. You can then decide what action to take, for example, you can manually create or update planning proposals. The load leveling function is also available to verify the feasibility of the supply plan and level out the load if it is not possible to increase capacity.

The Initiating Stock Transfers business process allows you to transfer goods between two sites of the same company.
You can create a stock transfer order manually by specifying the sending and receiving sites, the list of products and quantities to be transferred and, optionally, a date when the goods are to arrive at the receiving site. If you do not enter a date and assign the order priority "Immediate", the goods are transferred as soon as possible. The stock transfer order will be visible in planning.
Alternatively, intracompany stock transfers could also be initiated as an outcome of planning, which is an integral part of the daily operations of distribution-focused industries
When the stock transfer order has been created, the sending site can process it like any other customer order. Once the outbound delivery is created, the receiving site is informed about the transfer by an advised inbound delivery notification. During the transfer, the goods are held in the in-transit stock, which financially belongs to the sending site. When the goods physically arrive at the receiving site, standard inbound logistics processing is used to post the goods to stock.

Overview
For midsize companies with multiple sites, this process allows the transfer of stock from site to site using the outbound and inbound processes. You can improve customer service levels while reducing overall inventory levels. Stock transfers enable smooth operations in order fulfillment and manufacturing. SAP Business ByDesign helps efficiently manage intracompany stock transfer: From order creation, outbound processing in one site and inbound processing in the other site.
Material flow analysis and exception-driven approach provides planners with comprehensive decision support
Goods in transit can be checked in the stock overview. This in-transit stock is valuated across the whole stock transfer process: It belongs to the stock of the sender until it arrives at the receiver and is posted into the receiver’s stock. Naturally both sender and receiver belong to the same company in this scenario meaning that the stock value at company level does not change.
When you create the outbound delivery, an advised inbound delivery notification is created in the receiving site automatically
Built in analytics and reports such as stock overview, confirmation journals, and batch where-used lists
With the introduction of planned stock transfer topic , intra company stock transfers could also be initiated as an outcome of planning – which is an integral part of day to day operations of distribution focused industries
Planned stock transfer is expected to enhance scale and reduce manual load and be a key enabler for distribution focused industries.
