While attending a Technology training course I was the lucky recipient of a new silver Nano. Not only was I excited by my own use but hey what would this do in the classroom. Could we make this a teaching tool? How do we finance the project?3Step 1: Getting their attention.Step 2: Changing how we teach.Half the battle for success in todays classroom is getting the students attention.

Changing how we teach is the bigger battle.

On any given day we as educators are forever in search of a new way to get our students attention that makes them excited about learning .

I selected 5 students that had basic computer skills, could work long weird hours due to scheduling conflicts and the best time to work on computers when the teachers are not there. 5 students signed up and now have become the hottest team in town. When you distribute 110 Zunes to teachers and kids you need more than 1 tech specialist. Real life skills and what a self-esteem booster.12The Spanish VersionVocabulario for Spanish 1 and 2Examples:

One of the first ideas that I came across with the use of Ipods was to help students from bilingual homes and students such as mine with no help in foreign language. Why not use the expert-the Spanish teacher 13Across the curriculumMath

Imagine the coaches excitement when he or she didnt have to bring the whole team in for reviewing the film before school or stay after practice. Instead everbody has it and then we can talk about it as a team. Oh, and could we review on the bus ride to the game..YES!17Differentiated Learning Using multiple learning style and intelligencesHow about the child that needs to hear something over and over again. How about he child that needs the visual. Teaching with Zunes makes this happen and provides parents with the necessary tools as well.18ManagementNo Zune Zones and classroom guidelines.3 strikes

School staff brainstormed and came to consensus on when and where and how. Developed contract with both parents and students concerning the Zunes and their use. Big idea, it belongs to the school but Grandma can listen.19

Success StoriesParent participationELL StudentTeachersSherrie- Thank you for all the work you have put in on the Zune's. I know it is an additional thing to worry about and you know how the 'jury is still out' if I can maneuver another piece of technology....but none the less I recognize what you are trying to do for the kids and I appreciate it. Thanks Pam RichardsParent attended an information meeting and signed contracts with their students about rights and responsibilities accompaning the Zunes. Parent who never show up started showing up. Good questions and concerns visited.Lisa Garza, you teachers just dont get it as fast as we do. Equity isue tools for all, first time she felt like part of the crowd.
