Copyright is the right granted by law and
granted to an author, composer, publisher, or distributor to exclusive
publication, production, sale or
distribution of a literary, musical or artistic work.
Private and public communication
Communicating with friends is considered as private, but if you allow the friends of your friends to read your message, it becomes public.
Therefore, you need to master its content.
Right to oblivionWhen you open an account on a social networking site, you take out a contract with the owner of the site :
You give him the property of your personal data and all information published.
He is allowed to store them and use them whithout any restriction.
Right to oblivion
Max Schrems is a law student. He asked to Facebook to send him all the data stored about him.
He received 1222 sheets.

Right to oblivion
The right to obtain the deletion of personal data is not really guaranteed
for the moment. It’s currently very complicated for
someone to demand the withdrawal of personal information published on a
social networking site.
Right to oblivion in the future
The European Commission is preparing a directive which would force the social networking sites to delete personal data or pictures of people who will demand it, even if their headquarter is not located in
EU.
