Tasmanian devil (Sarcophilus harrissi) With its menacing expression, dark coloring and tendency to shriek, it’s no wonder these animals are referred to as “devils.” Only found on the island of Tasmania, the devils are the largest living carnivorous marsupial on the planet, eating small mammals and birds. Your Zoo has partnered with Save the Tasmanian Devil Program to help study and conserve Tasmanian devils. Vampire bats (Desmodus rotundus) While Vampire bats do drink blood, they‘re not as scary as Hollywood wants us to believe. Vampire bats prefer blood from cows or goats rather than humans and they rarely kill their prey. Vampire bats are social, intelligent animals that form long-term cooperative bonds within their group, grooming each other and sharing meals.
