own Zonta Club of Muntinlupa & Environs’ brochure featuring our projects & services undertaken by Charter Pres. Cheding Arroyo & SAGIP Pres. Menchu Henson. This is regularly distributed during events to create public awareness.

5. ZCME Newsletter – ZCME released 2 newsletters for the biennium.

7. “Upcoming Zonta Marker” – to be inaugurated on May 24, 2012 located across Contessa Building, Poblacion, Muntinlupa City. Informatively, this will be ZCME’s latest contribution in creating public awareness while maintaining the famous “Z” emblem that upholds the aims & ideals of Zonta Int’l. **Note: Pictures to follow. MEMBERSHIP Increase and Organizing New Clubs.

A. The target of 20% net increase has not been met by the club but we were proud to recruit 8 new members and re-instate 3. As of May 1, 2012 we have a total of 40 members. Please note: late Past President Chiqui Server passed away on March 6, 2012. Thus, total of 41 was brought down to 40 actual members.

B. Our club chartered a new Golden Z Club. AD Chona Lopez presiding over the Charter presentation of the Golden Z Club of Muntinlupa & Environs, June 16, 2011.

STREAMLINING Service Projects. ZC of Muntinlupa’s flagship project (SAGIP) specifically focuses on the status of women and the promotion of human rights. (SAGIP) Saklolo at Gabay ng Ina at Pamilya is a 24-hour crisis response center where services are offered free-of-charge to benefit women & children, directly & solely. To date, SAGIP has assisted /provided services to the following: Center-based services – over 10,000 clients assisted, Community-based – over 15,000 participants were given seminars & orientations, School-based - 3,929 students were taught (PSL) Personal Safety Lessons and 5,000 teachers & principals given refreshers on the SAGIP-Gabay Bata Program.

TDZ (Tulong Dunong ng Zonta) High School Scholarship Program, is a scholarship given to poor but deserving young girls in Muntinlupa City. To date, a total of 98 scholars have been assisted, 58 of whom graduated in school year 2007-2008(18), 2008-2009(14), 2009-2010(6), 2010-2011(9) & 2011-2012(11). ZCME will be adding 10 more scholars this school year 2012-2013. Informatively, this will serve as the 9

th batch of TDZ scholars. Most of these

scholars were sent to college by their benefactors through personal sponsorships. Presently, we have expanded to 2 additional schools, namely: Muntinlupa Business High School & Muntinlupa Science High School.

HARNESSING Club Resources

ZC of Muntinlupa partnered with the local government of Muntinlupa for funding of SAGIP programs & operations. The office of Cong. Biazon turned over cash grants to TDZ & sponsored an Urban Farming tour in Quezon City. ZC of Muntinlupa members tapped their families & friends to sponsor a TDZ scholar(s). On some activities & events, members volunteered their homes as venues: like members, Viki Serrano who volunteered her home for the SAGIP children & TDZ scholars Annual Christmas Party, December 3, 2012 & Marilen Espiritu who opened her home as venue for our major fundraising project “MMQ Theatre Salon Series”, Feb. 24,

2012. Other members opened their residences as venues of our monthly GMM. Some members also tapped their personal friends and business associates for donations in cash or kind.

IMPROVING the Status of Women ZC of Muntinlupa prides itself in advancing the status of women through service & advocacy. Education has been the primary focus of ZCME since the inception of the TDZ High School Scholarship Program. The legacy of empowering young girls through education is on its 9

th year & going strong!

Menchie De Vera, A TDZ Scholar High School awarded as one of the (MOST) Most Outstanding Student in Muntinlupa City wins college scholarship sponsored by local City government office.

NETWORKING with Like-Minded Organizations ZC of Muntinlupa has strong ties and partnership with the Local Gov’t of Muntinlupa through the offices of Mayor Aldrin San & Cong. Rodolfo Biazon, Local Police Unit & the 9 Barangays of Muntinlupa City. The DSWD, the DepEd, St. James the Great Parish and NGO’s such as COPA, AWCP,

MMQ & ALIG are among the leading organizations we collaborate with in rallying the cause of women & children.

EMPOWERING Women with the Right Knowledge

ZC of Muntinlupa launched the SAGIP Gabay Bata project, a SAGIP school-based advocacy program which aims to teach elementary & secondary students on how to protect themselves from all types of abuse thru the teaching of “PSL” Personal Safety Lessons & RA 7610.

SAGIP’s community-based advocacy program regularly conducts VAWC (RA 9262) & PES seminars in the community in order to equip women & children with the right knowledge especially focusing on personal protection & valuing a woman’s basic human’s rights and gender equality.

TDZ High school scholarship program enables young girls to finish a high school education and gives them an avenue to meet their goals & achieve their fullest potentials through education.

TDZ scholars implemented the “Garden Project” which aims to teach them environmental protection, while benefitting from Mother Nature’s nutritional and economic benefits.
