The person named first is the producer of the film: David Fincher. Then the main actors where listed: Mark Ruffalo, Jake Gyllenhial and Robert Downey jr.A reason for this is that they are the most important people of the movie crew, or are seen as the most important because they are the most noticeable (especially the actors as they are the people seen by the audience when they watch the movie).

People who would not be listed on the opening sequence would be people like the extras.This would be because they are not greatly involved in creating the movie, also there would be too much people to write which would make the opening sequence too long. This can be a reason to why only the people most involved with titles (e.g. music supervisors, production designer )are included within the opening sequence.

The font that is used is simple and resembles the font of a typewriter used in the past. This can represent the time that the movie was set or relate to the fact that the main characters work place is a newsagent (a place where the use of a typewriter in the past was frequent.)

There is not much movement of the titles:they always fade in subtlety on the bottom left hand side of the screen.

One noticeable effect used on the titles is when it fades out.

As seen on the pictures here, as the letters fade out other letters/symbols appear then disappear again.

The effect of the symbols is that it gives it a sense of mystery and enigmatic atmosphere. The symbols can also remind a person of ancient alphabets (e.g. Egyptian scriptures) which gives a sense of fantasy. But it can also represent modern science, which gives another overall suggestion of a futuristic thriller film.

Another thing that can be noted about the titles is that all the letters are in underscore (even for the names).

The size of the font covers enough proportion of the screen to be clearly visible without being too noticeable. The colour throughout is white, which gives the effect of simplicity and sophistication.The effect given to the titles suggests many things, but certainly mystery. This suggests that the movie is a mystery film. Also it suggests that the genre can also be a futuristic thriller film due to the use ofsymbols.

It suggests the narrative to be set in the past, due to the use of the font. And also that there will be some drama and action throughout the film, this is suggested from the use of font titles and editing.
