sEmergency Management and municipalities across the county, stand able to contact homes in all parts of the county – either by individual community or the county as a whole – in times of need. This is a critical step in bolstering public safety – but we need your help to further strengthen CodeRed.

What can I do? As it stands, our CodeRed data-base includes every listed landline telephone number in the County – but not cellular phone numbers, unlisted lines, or Voice over Internet Protocol listings. Given the widespread use of cellular phones in particular, we must expand this database to make CodeRed truly effective.

That is why Kane County residents are being asked to take a minute to submit alternative numbers where you can be reached in case of an emergency. There are three easy ways to update that information:

• Visit the Kane County website at www.countyofkane.org. Simply click on the CodeRed logo on the homepage and enter your information

• Complete the data collection form on the back of this pamphlet and mail to: Kane County Office of Emergency Manage-ment, 777 E. Fabyan Parkway, Geneva, IL 60134

Ensure you’re contacted Sign-up for CodeRed today

• Complete the form on the back of this pamphlet and drop it off at your local police department

When is CodeRed used?Specific instances where the system may be activated include:

• Evacuation notices• Severe weather warnings• Amber Alerts or missing child reports• Boil water notices• Bio-terrorism threats• Flooding notices

Thank you for your assistance in building our CodeRed information database. Working together, we can ensure that Kane County takes every step possible to keep its communities and residents safe during critical times. If you have any ques-tions about CodeRed or Emergency services in general, please do not hesitate to contact the Kane County Office of Emergency Management at 630-232-5985.

FOR MORE INFORMATIONPrivacy Notice Information collected for CodeRed will be held confidential and used only for the purposes of emergency notification.

What is CodeRed? From Amber Alerts to evacuation orders, our most valuable resource in times of emergency is often information. The faster residents and communities are alerted to a situa-tion that is taking place, the more able they are to respond and do what is necessary to protect them-selves and their neighbors.

That is why the Kane County Board moved last year to implement a countywide telephone notification system to alert residents of a disaster or emer-gency in a timely manner. Named CodeRed, the system is capable of placing up to 60,000 phone calls per hour to inform residents of what is taking place and provide important instruction on what to do next.

As a result, today the Kane County Office of
