RingmastersRingmasters formed during the fall of 2006 and have exceeded nearly every performance goal they’ve ever set for themselves. They are indeed a barbershop quartet (2008 Collegiate International Champions) but also have a firm grasp on several other music genres both intellectually and artisti-cally.

They are all former students at Adolf Fredrik’s School of Music and Stockholm’s Music Gymna-sium, they are all founding members of Zero8 and have been a driving force behind the success of the choir and this recording.

Käraste BröderAs one of Scandinavia’s greatest poets and mu-sicians, Stockholm’s Carl Michael Bellman most often depicted individuals carousing the taverns of Stockholm in the 18th century. In those days at least one tavern could be found on every city block of Stockholm.

Käraste bröder (translated: Dearest Brothers) is one of Bellman’s most well known drinking songs, illustrating a rather tarnished and boisterous but happy group of drinking brothers. This arrange-ment plays around using different meters, and ironically (as the night of drinking wears on) the song ends in an exhortation to keep the correct meter.

Zero8Zero8 is a choir whose trademark is singing a va-riety of music styles. On this album you will hear pop, rock, barbershop, Swedish choral and even a spiritual number. We aspire to grasp as much of an understanding of each genre as possible so as to create an authentic sound for each… in other words, to sound like a pop group when singing pop, a traditional Swedish male choir when sing-ing choral and a world-class barbershop chorus when singing barbershop. Our main goal in mak-ing this cd is for the listener to have fun. Are you having fun yet?

Doug Harrington, Founder andMusical DirectorDirector Doug Harrington began singing gospel and country music as a youngster, along with his three older brothers, which kicked off a successful career spanning 35 plus years to date and touch-ing on many music genres, all revolving around vocal harmonies. Today, he’s a much sought-after professional song coach/producer, working with an array of jazz and pop solo artists and with such prestigious groups as The Real Group, Rilton’s Vänner and Vocal Six as well as teaching at Stock-holm’s Royal College of Music.

Doug founded Zero8 in 2006, serving as Director from the start. His leadership abilities and natural charisma consistently motivate us to reach new goals and higher standards. He has the remark-able ability to hear every nuance in a performance and then say just the right things to help the en-semble make the extra effort to put even more into each and every word and chord. This process steadily guides us along, improving each song un-til we have just the right combination of technique and feeling. He puts his heart and soul into his work and we think we reflect that in our perform-ances on this recording project.
