Introduction This document is intended to provide a quick introduction to the described System.
It is not intended to replace any specific product documentation. On the contrary, it offers additional information to the product documentation, for installing, configuring and starting up the system. A detailed functional description or the specification for a specific user application is not part of this document. Nevertheless, the document outlines some typical applications where the system might be implemented.

Typical Applications
Introduction Typical applications or sub-applications which use systems as outlined in the
following chapters are seen in the following market sectors: Industry • Small machinery automation systems • Decentralised automation systems supplementary to large and medium size
machinery Buildings/Services • Lighting management • Access, control and surveillance management • Heating and air conditioning management
Application Description Example Mobile Pump Station The application controls the
filling or emptying of fluid tanks. With a VVD the speed of pumping is adjustable and , allows for adaptation based on the fluidity of the liquid and the volume of the tank.
Control of a roll gate The application allows opening and closing of gates protecting the entry of a plant or cordonned off area.
Window mover in a greenhouse
The application regulate sthe air conditioning in a greenhouse.

System
Introduction The system chapter describes the architecture, the components, the dimensions and
the number of components used within this system.
Architecture
Overview The system is built up with a low end PLC with pushbutton control and visualization via
pilot lights and illuminated beacon to control a connected VVD – AC motor unit. Safety protection is provided in the form of an emergency stop and a mains switch. All application variables (time, speed or control logic) can be changed by the integrated PLC or VVD panel.
Layout
Components Hardware:
• ZELIO Logic Compact (PLC) • Phaseo power supply (PS) • Altivar ATV 11 (VVD) • Tesys circuit breaker GV2 (CB) • Harmony Style 5 pushbutton XB5 (PB), pilot light XB5 (PL) and emergency stop • Illuminated beacon Style XVB (LT) • Vario switch-disconnect VCF • Standard AC-Motor Software: • Zeliosoft Version 2.0 • PowerSuite Version 1.5
Numbers of Components
For this stand-alone application you require only one of each component.
Dimension The compact size of the PLC, power supply, and ATV11 allows the use cabinet with
a size of 300x200x200mm (BxHxW). The pushbuttons and pilot lights can be integrated into the front door of the cabinet.

Installation
Introduction This chapter describes the steps necessary to install the hardware and to setup the
software to attain the following application architecture.

Hardware
General • All devices, with the exception of the GV2 circuit breaker can be mounted on the
rear wall of the cabinet.
• The GV2 needs a DIN rail for mounting.
• The illuminated beacon is delivered as single parts. The user has to assemble the beacon before installation. This allows the user to define the position of the different coloured elements.
• There are two possibilities for mounting the XB5 pushbutton or pilot light. In the 1st case, the user drills a 22mm hole in the correct position in the front side of the cabinet. The 2nd case is to mount the parts in an XALD housing which can take up to 5 push buttons or lights. The XALD could also be mounted on a surface on or in the cabinet.
• Mainly need of M5*18mm screws and nuts and 35mm DIN rail for fixing
• 230VAC wiring between main switch, emergency stop and VVD
• 24VDC wiring between power supply, PLC, pushbutton, light and control circuits of the VVD

Software
General To implement the system a user does not necessarily need a software tool.
The Zelio Logic CPU and the Altivar 11 can be started or programmed using the front panel on both devices. However, for more comfort and the possibility of data storage, simulation and multiple usage of the application it is recommended that you install and use Zeliosoft to configure the PLC and / or PowerSuite for the VVD. Your PC needs to have a Microsoft Windows operating system installed - either Windows 98, Windows 2000, or Windows NT. To start the installation, place the CDs in the CD or DVD drive of your PC. The CDs usually starts automatically due to the "Auto-Start" functionality of the PC. Please follow the installation routine. In case of problems please check the installation guidelines delivered with the product. The Software installation path on your harddisk is by default: • Zeliosoft \Program Files\Schneider Electric\Zeliosoft
• PowerSuite \Program Files\Schneider Electric\PowerSuite
Communication
General This is a hardwired configuration with no communication via bus system.
The HMI functionality is implemented using pushbuttons and pilot lights.

Implementation
Introduction The implementation chapter describes all steps necessary to initialize, parameterize,
program and to start-up the system.
Function Functional description
1. Use the left or right pushbutton to select the direction of rotation.
2. Press ON to start the motor with the selected direction of rotation.
3. If you select the opposite direction of rotation while the motor is running, the
speed drops to zero before the motor changes to the new direction.
4. With the push button OFF the motor stops.

HMI
Introduction No HMI was implemented in this application.
PLC
Introduction The PLC section describes the different steps needed to initialize, parameterize and
program the PLC logic to fulfill the above description of the system functionality. The user application is written with the Zeliosoft tool.
When you start the Zeliosoft software for the first time, you are shown the welcome screen with choices to generate a new program or to work on an existing program. For a new PLC application select “new program”. You are shown the screen to select the Zelio modules - presented with their pictures. Please select your PLC then select the correct module type reference shown in the list in the lower half of the screen.
After selecting the appropriate module you can choose the programming language. The PLC logic can be written in two different programming languages: Ladder or FBD.

In our example we use FBD (Function Block Derived). The example shows the FBD screen including the logic program for this example.
Before you can transfer the logic program to the PLC, you have to configure the communication port of the PC. Open the menu “communication setup” under “Transfer” in the toolbar. The COM-port 1 and 3 are selectable. If you have connected the Zelio programming cable to the PC and the Zelio Logic controller you can test the connection with the Test button in the Port configure menu.

The logic program can be transferred to the controller now. Use the menu “Transfer – Transfer Program- PC Module.
Before you set the PLC in running mode, read the safety instructions for your system. After a successful transfer you can start the Zelio Logic controller. Select: Transfer-> RUN Module.

Devices
Introduction The devices section describes the different steps needed to initialize and
parameterize the device logic/behaviour to fulfill the described system functionality. The devices are initialized and parameterized using the Powersuite tool.
General The ATV 11 can be programmed using the front panel. The advantage of using the
PowerSuite software tool is to have the data storage on PC and the possibility to print out the documentation. Also the tool can help in online optimization of the parameters.
1st PowerSuite screen after program start: After reading the instructions press “Alt+F” to continue .
Select the device ATV 11 for our application example.
Select the exact device type of ATV 11 according to the catalog number for our application example.

Parameterizing the AC-Motor - for our example use the default settings.
After this procedure you can store the settings on the PC. Use the icon with the disk symbol. Check and establish the connection between the PC and the Altivar
Transfer the settings to the Altivar. Use the menu: Link->Transfer File.
