Road Design

This semester my team and I ran hydrology calculations based on ODOT standards, designed 25mph and 55mph sections of Earlwood road based on crest and sag curve values according to AASHTO standards using Auto CAD Civil 3D, and held a public meeting with residents to address their concerns.

This project was for my senior design class at George Fox University where my group and I had to design an existing gravel road in the Yamhill County of Oregon.

The design of this project consisted of addressing concerns of the county and residents near Earlwood Road. The major concerns being addressed are safe sight distances, drainage issues, and possible increase in drivers’ speed.

Maui Hyatt Stairway   This project was my first design project that I

completed for my internship with Alcon & Associates in the summer of 2014.

I designed a stairway for the newly built Maui Hyatt Regency Hotel located in Ka’anapali, Maui, Hawaii.

I calculated the slope of each step of this stairway to ensure that water would not collect on the stairway.

I designed the entire stairway on AutoCAD Civil 3D and it was constructed three months later.

In addition to the design, I created details for construction documents and responded to RFIs submitted by the contractor.

HFM Storm Drain   This was one of the projects I worked on during the

summer of 2015 at my internship with Alcon & Associates, Inc.

The current parking lot was experiencing drainage issues and they needed a new storm drainage system.

I developed a possible design for the parking lot by first surveying existing conditions and measuring the current elevations and locations of existing features. I also calculated slopes and analyzed current water behavior.

For the final design, I drafted the full layout of the parking lot on AutoCAD Civil 3D and created a stormwater plan showing the flow of water and catch basin locations.

Ewa Beach Elementary Repaving

This was another project that I completed for my internship with Alcon & Associates this past summer.

Because of the existing drainage issues, the parking lot needed to be re-designed.

I conducted a topographic survey of the existing conditions. I then drafted a topographic map AutoCAD Civil 3D

I created a final design of the new parking spaces with handicapped stalls and loading zones that followed ADA requirements.

My final submittal was a set of completed construction documents.

Topographic Map   This was my final project for my surveying class at George Fox

University.   My group members and I conducted a survey for a part of our

campus.   We then generated a topographic map of pathways and

features surrounding a building using standard surveying equipment.

The map was drawn in Auto CAD Civil 3D, where I final submittal to our professor is displayed below.
