IDEAS OF CLASSES AND FRIENDS

In the Summer Festival we were so surprised and happy, because this is the first time for us, and then we played a lot of games. It’s so fantastic.

After 3 or 4 meetings all the classes, finally arranged some very beautiful summer festival programs. Everything was ready: the date, T-shirts, tickets, programs, lucky draw prizes and all we had left to do was just wait for the time to come.

It was really fun. The games

are under-controlled, thanks to the MCs. I really liked it.

Hope I could come again next year even if I was already graduated.

This was my second time joining

Summer Festival. I didn’t win anything back then and I didn’t expect

that I’d win something big this time. I was excited. Thanks for Mrs. Zarina for acciden-tally picking my ticket.

On Sunday, 6th of March, all the anticipation and hardwork from our Zaman Family had finally paid off. It was a beautiful and bright Sunday morning for all the Zaman folks.

up the stage and call out the winner. Everybody was cheering and rooting for their friends who had won the prizes.Again, a few more games continued and every-body was still having fun. It was already 11 o’clock and the end was near. However, none of us had wanted it to end so quickly so the MCs decided to call some students who wanted to come up on the stage to show off their talents. It was really fun and everybody enjoyed it; however, it was time to end the event. Once again everybody gathered in front of the stage and the MCs called the last round of the lucky draw. People were cheering for the grand prize winner whom was from 9F, and the second grand prize winner from 12F. Finally, every-one gathered in front of the Summer Festival’s banner for a picture taken for the school monthly newspaper and the show ended with a few songs sung by 12F’s members. This year’s Summer Festival was definitely a time to remember. Big thanks to Mr. Mustafa who kept the programs organized and well-handled.

Students and teachers looked fresh and excited as they stood waiting for their friends to come in for what was about to happen. At approximately 8 o’clock, everybody gathered round the stage along with our MCs to welcome our 2011 Summer Festival and that was when the fun started !There were a lot of games are organized by every class. Each game was announced by MCs and explained by its host. As time flew by, all the students and teachers were having fun with wide smiles on their faces. After the first half of the event ended, everyone was tired and started to grab something to fill their empty stomachs. Many held a plate of Doner and were enjoying it with their friends. Moments passed, it was time to resume the fun event and to start the first round of the lucky draw.MCs welcomed the honored guest to come

For girls’ side it was done on February 26th and for boys’ side it was done on 12th March 2011. Around 100 students attended to this contest and it took an hour and half. At the end of the activity, it was not easy to choose the top 3 from both sides. That’s why we called an art teacher to decide which are in the top 3 and he chose three tasks from each side as the best. We would like to appreciate to students who attended and showed their abilities. All pictures drawn by students were meaningful. Thanks a lot for joining us. See you in next activity…

International School has added one more activity to its social organization; Drawing Contest…Everyone has different abilities of course. Some can play violin, some can play guitar, some can play football, some are good at singing and etc. Therefore, Zaman Inter-national School tries to do more different activities for students. This time we have decided to see our students’ capabilities. Our motto is DRAW YOUR IDEAS

because everybody can think, but everybody has different way to explain what they thought. This activity gave chance to students to express their ideas and feeling with their pencil on the paper. There were many categories that students could choose such as Cambodia in the future, Nature, Objects, Historical places and etc.

I was glad when I found out I got 1st place in drawing contest. I was quite surprised for I didn’t expect my draw-ing to win because there were many other nice drawing. My picture was Preah Vihear temple which is the symbol of Cambodia’s national heri-tage and it shows about the achieve-ment of our Cambodian ancestor that they could build an exquisite beauty on the top of a mountain with remark-able patterns so that is why I chose it. Finally, I’d like to appreciate the school for giving me an opportunity to join this wonderful contest. Chanmonik ( 12 E )

Why did i choose this picture?I chose this picture because it’s a really simple drawing but it’s really meaningful. And now Cambodia is having problems with Thailand, so I think that we should make a peace with our neighbors. And if we have peace with them we can develop our country and theirs.

It was really fun and exciting contest. Every-body was focusing on their own work. Drawing contest gave students a chance to express their talents. Drawing can be hard at first but if we keep on focusing and practicing, you’ll get used to it. In other words, “PRACTICES make things PERFECT”.

Drawing needs calmness and focus. Most of the competitors tried their best to relax themselves and focus on their own sketches. Some finished before the time given and some worked till the last minute. It was amazing that some pictures were brilliant with wonderful shading and some were very meaningful. Feeling, mood and emotion effect our work’s so be calm and make sure you’re feeling good while doing any work.

It was the first time we had gone anywhere further than Kirirom together. Twenty one students from our class joined this trip. Actually, it was the first time any class from the girl’s side got to go anywhere that far in a big group. So we were all very excited to be able to go to Siem Reap. The trip was from 9th to 11th of February 2011. We stayed at Hotel City Angkor. We visited many places like Bakheng Mountain, Angkor Wat, Cultural Village, Ta Prom Temple and Ta Keo Temple.

We treated ourselves to a fish massage which was relaxing after many hours of shopping. We left Siem Reap on 11th at noon but not before praying at the local holy place.

Yes, it was tiring, yes, we were out of money ( after all the shopping ) but it was so much fun taking pictures, walking around taking in the rich history, forgetting all our problems .

We hope other classes especially the girl’s side will have an opportunity to enjoy it as we did. We sincerely thank Mr. Osman Karaca, Mrs. Grace and Shirin abla for arranging and making it possible for us to have an adventure of a life-time as 10 F class.

S TA F F D A Y 20 1 1 20 March 2011 was a special day ! For the second time Zaman International School celebrated a Staff Day Cer-emony. There were many staff in atten-dance including Khmer and foreigner teachers as well as their families.

At 7:30am, we all came to meet each other at Zaman International School wearing “The 2nd Staff Day 2010-2011” uniform, We celebrated this cer-emony at the football field. First of all, Mr. Mustafa and Mr. Phit came to give a speech welcoming all the staffs and other guests.

Finally I was waiting the lucky draw, The last prize was a bicycle, and fortu-

nately the number in my hand was match to the lucky draw number 134. I was very happy and this is my first good luck. I’d like to say thank you the ZAMAN

S TA F F D A Y 20 1 1Then, we started to play games. Many people were chatting while others were playing games. Our first game was about carrying lemons in the mouth. We gave priority to children less than 10 years old but later other staff and teachers played as well.

In addition, we had a lucky draw program prepared by Mr. Mustafa and Mr. Phit on stage. Our second game was a dancing competition. The adults and elder teach-ers were enjoying with it. After that, both male Khmer and foreign teachers played football together.

We divided into 3 groups and each group has 6 members. It was a wonderful time and we were excited for this game. During this party, we were not only play the games and sports, but we also listened to the wonderful songs. In order to capture the guests’ attention, we selected five lucky draw numbers while Mr. Phit said, “Please all the staffs pray for the god or holy thing to get the prize.” Suddenly, there was a loud, crowd response which showed their enthusiasm and satisfaction with his speech. After lucky draw, we played the traditional game Dorn Deum Sleuk Cher and Kleng Chab Kon Moin.

After 10 O’clock, we rested for a while to have lunch. There were a lot of delicious foods and soft drinks. Most of the foods were made by foreign teachers. When lunch time was finished, we turned back to lucky draw again. It was surprising and fabulous that Ms. Mouy Chheang, our receptionist, won first prize because she drew the lucky draw number 134. To close the ceremony, we took pictures together and thanked Mr. Mustafa for creat-ing this ceremony. We wish all of you good luck and may god bring you a happiness time, and success in your work! receptionist desk waiting for all of the NevaEnufers to arrive. There were about 10 of us including our beloved assistant teacher, Ms. Aziza. It was about 1 o’clock and we were all ready to depart. But the second most needed person in the trip hadn’t arrived yet, Elen. She arranged everything regarding food. So, leaving without her meant leaving without what is really important to, NevaEnuf Eating. Dalin, Our monitor was furious and curi-ous about the whole thing. Fortunately, she arrived after about 20mins, and we were able to start our exciting trip.

We were separated into two school buses. Our first destina-tion was the De Castle apartment to pick up Mrs. Zarina, her mother and daughter. Then, we continued our way to Cham Ka Pring Amusement Park which took almost 30mins. When we arrived there, Narita, Samphos and Leaph were already there. We started to carry our food and other stuff out from the school bus and walked to an appropriate place that we could sit. On the way, we could feel the summer wind blowing through us. Luckily, I was the photographer so my duty was to take photos and capture memories during the whole trip. I didn’t have to carry anything but a camera. We reached the site that we decided would be the best location to rest and eat. We started to help each other prepare the lunch which included the “cow-climb-mountain (BBQ)”, salad, Maklube and cake which was all organized by our gold-hearted teachers. This lunch, chattering, laughing, taking pictures and telling jokes was a meaningful memory for us, NevaEnufers.

Once we were full we quickly cleaned up the mess and packed our leftover. Then we went forward to a place where we could experi-ence all the breath-taking games. We stood there, and looked all over the playground as if there was nothing interesting at all, at first sight. But, then we thought all together, that “interesting or boring” depends on us and this was our time, our day for NevaEnuf class. Let’s make it out-of-earth.

We bought tickets for the roller coaster. Everyone hurridly chose the seat they liked. Since no more seats were available seat on the roller coaster Kim Heang, Lymei, Iemhorng, Narita, Mrs. Zarina and I weren`t able to join the first ride. So they enjoyed the next ride, eventually. What made it more marvelous was that we rode the roller coaster confidently with our hands were in the air, ready to grab some mangos from the tree on the passing way of that fast roller coaster.Afterward we went to another game, called “the UFO”. We could say it was the most exciting game throughout the whole day. The strongest who could survive the UFO for 3times were Dalin, Lida, G.Mouy and me. This side was followed by “the twister” which lifted us up about 7meters high off the ground and moved us around, like a fan. Due to the large number of the students joining the ride, Ms. Aziza was free to join us without any payment. It wasn’t really scary but it gave us, the best. Virya was very exhausted so she shouted out, “The sun almost burn my face into ash, let’s go and get something to drink ! But her cry was useless because we still were feeling that excite-ment will never be enough for us!

Succeeding the Viking, we walked and walked until we reached a place which provided us a wonderful view to capture the moment called “speanyo-ol”. We ran through and jumped on it until it almost collapsed. Unfortunately, our jumping was stopped by other people on the bridge. We walked down the bridge to take some final photographs. Lastly, we went back to the eating area and carried the things back to the school buses and came back to school. It was an amazing trip for NevaEnufers. We arrived at school and went back home, exhausted. We want to thank our treasured homeroom teacher, Mrs. Zarina. We love you and you’re one of our memorable mothers. Also, Ms. Aziza, our beloved Abla, we love you and you’re really one great sister for us. And NevaEnuf, we’re the best and we’re one family. Bonavy Socheat,

On the early morning, of Saturday 5th March, some of my friends went to school because they had a football match with teachers. After the match, our class met in order to start the trip to Zaman’s new dormitory. My teacher had prepared a big plastic bag of BBQ chicken. Even though I was the last person who arrived at school, my teacher and classmates didn’t leave school with-out me (Thanks a lot). Once our trip began we knew that we would have so much fun.On the way to the dormitory, we could feel fresh air along the river and saw lots of nice views. About twenty minutes later, we reached the dormitory by Tuk-Tuk. In the dormitory, there are lots of plants and a nice swimming pool. So, we felt very comfortable over there. First, our teacher and Kork Cheng started to make a fire for BBQ. It was difficult to make a fire at first. After a while we got fire. Suddenly, one of our friends, Huy Keang asked: ‘Where is the rice? Had anyone bought rice yet?’ Unfortunately we had forgotten to buy it. Davan and Mengly went out and bought some rice from the nearest market. After having rice with BBQ chicken we rested for a while and had some coke and ice-cream.

Fun lasted so long. We spent some time bliss-fully in the swimming pool. We had such a great time. We really enjoyed it so much. Thanks to my teacher Mr. Metin who had arranged this Satur-day activity for us. Meng Tak 10 A

8E FUN MARATHONOur class fun marathon started with a trip to Soriya Shopping mall. We started off with ice-cream at Swensen’s. After ice cream we went up to the 5th Floor to ride 4D. We screamed very loud while riding 4D. After 4d we played games for a few minutes. We then went to sing at the Karaoke parlor. We hired a VIP room where there is a long sofa, big wide screen TV, micro-phones, and a computer to choose the songs we would like to sing along to. We had fun singing together while watching a video of the songs that we had chosen. We felt like singers! When we got tired of singing, we went to eat at Master Grill. Our activity was short but sweet. We really enjoyed ourselves that day.

Our second activity was a trip to City Mall. We played basketball, racing cars and bought CDs. Some of us ate sea food at Shabu Shabu while our teacher and others went to fill their stomachs at KFC. After a fulfilling lunch, we walked around the mall. We bought some beautiful bracelets and scarves. Then we went upstairs to play more games. We changed so many coins that the cashier gave us a couple of earrings; when we used up all our coins, we said goodbye to each other and went home.

Our next destination was the newly opened Sarpino’s Pizzeria near Pencil Market. The school awarded a cash prize to our class for full attendance at Summer Festival which took place the previous week. Unfortunately, some of our friends could not join us. We presented our teacher, Mrs.Grace with a Khmer traditional scarf (kroma) decorated with beautiful beads and pearls. We felt happy to see that she really liked our gift. We then ate pizza, garlic bread etc. drank coke and orange juice to our hearts content. We finished the day with a quick visit to Paragon. Our love and sincere thanks go to our beloved teacher Mrs.Grace and Shirin abla for looking after us and guiding us to be the best class in the school.

Specials & SurprisesSomething surprising and special from grade 12 girls’ this year? On Wednesday 22nd of December, 12E and 12F’s students prepared an unforgottable moment for their friends.

to make a surprise for 12F, but if 12E brought cake for 12F, then 12F would absolutely give 12E a cake, so I decided to tell Panha who is from 12F. As soon as she knew the names we planned to bring cake for both classes secretly.

When the time came, Panha and I went to prepared it first with none of the other students knowledge. As we called them to go down stairs together, one student from 12F said ‘I bought cake for u’, but on other students from 12E said “ it’s me, the one bought cake for you ”. They felt amazed. Meanwhile, they went to the canteen and saw the cakes. At that moment, they all stared at the cake with surprised faces. It completely startled them. We shared and ate the cakes, played and talked with each other and took photos too. We were all entirely delighted that we could have the best party and give us to hold tightly the best memory. 11E NevaEnufLast week, on Friday we had a small party which was celebrated by our homeroom and our assistant teacher. In fact, it was a birth-day party for our classmates who were born this month. This best moment took place at the canteen during our lunch

time. At rst, we didn’t realize that our homeroom teacher made a surprise for us. While we were having lunch, our homeroom teacher came and told us to come together immediately. Suddenly Mrs. Zarina who is a head teacher of our class and Ms.Aziza our assistant teacher sang a birthday song for us. They made this birthday party for 4 of my classmates who have their birthday this month. They are Thida Sreng, Iemhorng Lay, Muyhoung Lim and Lymei Sun. After blowing out the candles on the cake our homeroom and assistant teacher gave them a present with good wishes. We felt really happy that day. It was an unforgettable time.We want to say thanks to Mrs. Zarina and Ms. Aziza. At last, we want to tell you that 11E loves you so much, NevaEnufers love you both…

NevaEnuf Vs

The Original

Female Football Match

On 16th march 2011, there was a match between 'NevaEnuf (11E)' and 'the Original (11F)'. An hour before the match, players of NevaEnufers' were getting ready for the match with hearts full of enthusiasm. The match took place during guidance hour. As the bell rang, footballers ran downstairs and started warming up on the field. NevaEnuf's players comprised of 8 members-Virya, Socheata, Socheatta, Lida, Dalin, V.Thyda, Gechmuoy, and Srey Leaph. The Original players are Liza, Nana, Marina, Bouyly, Boranai, Pisey, Leakhena and Manith.

As Mrs. Göksel stepped onto the field, the game started without any waste of time. For the first twenty minute, players from both teams seemed to be so delightful and powerful. The match went smoothly with the cheering and chanting from our spectators. The first match was about to end, but how unfortunate to the NevaEnuf side. Virya who was a defender, accidentally caught the ball with her hands. That was the reason for penalty. Pisey repre-senting 11F, scored the first goal.

After a five minute break, the second round started. Both team tried their best and put all their hearts into the game. Then, Dalin perfectly kicked the ball with all her strength and scored the goal. Terminally, the game ended with a tie. So penalty shooting was the solution. NevaEnufers scored 2 out of 3 goals while the Original scored 3.The match finished with the Original winning 4 over 3. The game ended peace-fully and everyone returned to their own classes with smiles painted on their faces. For NevaEnufers, win or lose is not impor-tant, as a quote says ' WIN WITHOUT BOASTING, LOSE WITHOUT COMPLAINING '.

ion a lovely party we had at our homeroom teacher`s house which is located near Apsara television centre. It was a great time to gather back with each other.Since leaving Zaman International School we had never met because everyone is busy with their assignments and exams at university. However our homeroom teacher and assistant teacher had a plan to invite us to the party. Though only 10 members were available it was a fantastic moment. The house reminded us of all the sweet memories we had during our high school life, especially dormitory. All the images we had together in that house seemed to appear in front of our faces. It was so sweet and at the same time sad.

We had a nice BBQ Party. Numerous photo-graphs were taken as a remembrance. We would like to say thanks to our homeroom teacher and assistant teacher for orga-nizing this beautiful gather-ing. We will remember that wonderful event in our heart forever. 12F love you!
