Welcome! There is something magical about a ticket to the Z. There, in your hand, you hold the key to the warm glow of people, the golden muses, the chandelier, the moment when the lights dim, the anticipation you and those around you feel as the curtain rises and then, yes, and then, the soaring begins-the music, the voice, the dance and the actor! It is that experience and the great artists we bring that together make a ticket to The Z magic.
This season your ticket is the key to laughter, inspiration, great music, spectacular dance and great American Theatre. This year the curtain will rise on such artists as Wynton Marsalis, Garrison Keillor, Mavis Staples, Christopher Lloyd, Michele Wiles of American Ballet Theatre, Odair Assad, A Celtic Sojourn, and family favorite The New Shanghai Circus.
There are a lot of new experiences waiting for you too! This year we have added “Block Parties Under the Canopy”, “Classical Concerts in the Sanctuary”, “On-Stage Folk Café” and “Stage Door at The Z” (yes, they are on the stage).
So, with your ticket in hand, join us and let the magic begin!

Its central character, Willy Loman, a little man with modest dreams, towers over American dramatic literature. Performed by the renowned Weston Playhouse Theatre Company, Miller’s quintessential masterpiece depicts an ordinary man Willie Loman, a traveling salesman, in desperate pursuit of the American Dream for himself and his family. Two generations of folk music share one night. Richie Havens is gifted with one of the most recognizable voices in popular music. Since his historic opening performance at the original Woodstock Festival, Havens has been known for his fiery, poignant, soulful singing. Dar Williams is one of the most acclaimed singer-songwriters of her generation, known for lush soundscapes and lyrics that beautifully blur the lines between folk and pop. The two on the same stage? Folk music at its best!
The Hope, Love & Justice TourTwo artists hailing from different sides of the Atlantic but both bound by the spirit of social justice and activism come together for a special celebration of music. Mavis Staples blazes a rhythm & blues trail while never relinquishing her gospel roots. The Lifetime Grammy Award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee was honored as one of Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Singers of all time. Billy Bragg’s inspiration stems from the socially conscious folk tradition of Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan. Called a “national treasure” by the London Times, he’s spent more than two decades making an indelible mark on the conscience of British music that has carried over to the US and Canada.

We believe a performing arts center has the ability to galvanize and transform a community and are committed to serving as a catalyst that energizes the city, its citizens and the region.
The Z is many things to many people.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS present free tickets, pre and post-performance lectures and discussions, a book club, community residencies, and more. This Season’s Highlights include:
• Arts Access: Each year, the Z provides 8,000 free tickets to low income families and students.

EDUCATION: Celebrating 25 years of commitment to the children and teachers of our community and the region!
Quietly (and not so quietly) at work outside of the mainstage spotlight, the Z’s educational programs serve to enrich the lives of children through a broad range of learning opportunities. Each year, the Z provides performances, workshops, and in-school residencies by nationally-recognized artists to 35,000 school children and teachers from our community and the region. The Z’s approach to arts education is both unique and highly effective. It not only introduces the arts to children (music, theater, and dance) but also uses the arts as a dynamic tool for teaching and learning all subjects including math, science, social studies and literature. In addition, many Z programs build bridges to understanding through the introduction of the arts of different cultures.
Professional Development for Teachers The Z offers professional development workshops that provide teachers with performing arts-based skills to teach established curriculum. Each workshop is linked with a performance. The Z and NB Public Schools are members of the Partners in Education program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts which enables us to bring Kennedy Center trained master teaching artists for these workshops.
