INTERNATIONAL NIGHT FRIDAY 28 JUNE HUNGARIAN THEME This event will replace our normal monthly meeting and will be a very good night. My thanks to Darko for his good work in arranging this event. Would members please pay your deposit and or confirm with Darko your attendance. It is most important that we have a minimum of 50 people at the restaurant. Consider some friends you may wish to invite at short notice should we need a few extras. Check your emails for further information. Darko can be contacted on: Mobile: 0419 540 205 Business: 9610 5625 Home: 9434 2617 Email: dlpost@aapt.net.au PRESIDENT’S VISIT TO CHINA This trip was not intended to be a study of the Chinese wine industry, but a few examples were sampled. One particular wine called Great Wall red would have only received the minimum points at our annual Wine Show. All wines tasted were thin, lacked fruit flavour and bore little resemblance to the claimed grape variety they were produced from. There will be no imminent threat to the Australian wine industry at this stage of China's fledgling industry. To their credit improvements will be rapid over the next ten years and China has a very diverse range of climate and soils to assist this development. BEER NIGHT MAY MEETING I as advised this was a success and a departure from our normal country and grape wine based meetings. This is an important event in the Guild calendar where your voting and comments will determine those who lead, operate and develop the Guild over the next two years for the benefit of all involved. The positions of President, Secretary and Treasurer, plus three committee members are hereby open for nomination from all members. The Guild is particularly looking for nominations from members who are keen to be part of setting directions for improvement and growth.
