And a special welcome to all our new families who have joined our community. Our sparkly new preps experienced their first day of school on Monday and have spent time exploring the school and meeting LOTS of new people. I know all of our Prep to Year 6 students’ sparks will get brighter and stronger throughout this year. Our teachers are exemplary and dedicated to providing the best learning experiences possible for all our children. And they are ably supported by our wonderful teaching support staff. I feel a great sense of pride and privilege to be appointed the Principal of Yarraville West PS. The school has a unique community culture that has developed and been nourished by our students, parents and staff over many years. I cannot talk about the school without acknowledging the personal commitment and dedication of Carole Tempany in shaping and leading the school for so long. I am in the lucky position to be able to work alongside a number of staff who worked closely with Carole, and will be absorbing as much as is possible over the next few weeks, months, years…! I also would like to acknowledge Angelique den Brinker’s leadership of the school during term 4, supported by our Assistant Principals, Judy, Sally and Nicole. A warm welcome to our new staff joining us for 2019: Prep teachers Mary Perkins and Jessie Knott; 1-2 teachers Louise Sloan and Lauren Barge; 3-4 teacher Ellie Sunderman; 5-6 teachers Aimee Bliss, Grace Parslow, Ed Weatherson and Paul Dobney; and Specialist Italian teacher Kylie Easterbrook. I am very much looking forward to working with students, staff and parents into the (exciting) future!
