purchase as well as a menu of Pennsylvania Dutch

and German food items. Music and entertainment

will provide a fun venue for the whole family to

enjoy.

in our indoor multipurpose room where the hot and

cold menu items can be purchased. There will be

soft drinks, as well as beer. All ages are welcome,

but ID must be presented to purchase beer. Spend

a few dollars on tickets to participate in the 50/50

cash drawing and the craft beer theme raffle items

being offered.

Come rest your weary feet and cool off at the

YWCA Hanover’s Bier Garden/PA Dutch Food

Fest (open 11AM to 4PM) while strolling the streets

at Dutch Days in Hanover, PA!

2018 Annual Giving Campaign

The kickoff for the 2018 Annual Giving Campaign

took place April 24 with the Board of Directors and

Staff gifts providing 15% in donations of our total

goal of $75,000! We are currently meeting with

local businesses, clubs, groups and individuals to

share with them the growth and progress YWCA

Hanover has experienced this past year as well as

updating them on our exciting future plans. Every

donation makes a significant impact in helping

others who need the critical services of Safe Home

and crucial early learning support families receive

from our childcare programs.

Please consider a gift to the YWCA Hanover. You

are investing in our community through your

donation. Visit www.ywcahanover.org to give

online or download the campaign brochure to

complete and mail. We appreciate your generous

support!

Fall Program Lineup

For many years, the signature programs offered by

the YWCA Hanover have been quality childcare

programs for families and children ages 1 to 12 as

well as comprehensive domestic violence services

offered by Safe Home 24/7. YWCA Hanover has

become a most trusted agency for providing these

critical, life saving services. Yet we know we can

offer more mission related programs that will

engage a variety of interests.

This fall, we will be presenting new life enrichment

programs. The programs will be open to anyone,

women and men, girls and boys. Registration will

be required, and a fee will apply, in most cases..

If you haven’t already “friended” YWCA Hanover

on Facebook, please do that so you can follow our

events and the new programs. Also, check us out

on Instagram, You Tube, and Twitter.

YWCA Hanover SAFE HOME’s “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes”

Michelle Shae, Director of Safe Home

YWCA Hanover SAFE HOME’s 6th Annual “Walk a

Mile in Her Shoes” event is happening on Friday,

August 10, 2018, at Winebrenner’s located at 50 N.

Forney Avenue. COME JOIN THE FUN!!!

Registration begins at 5:00 PM and the walk will

start promptly at 6:00 PM. The evening rounds out

with a terrific afterparty, including music, food, and

beverages for all participants!

“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” is a great opportunity for

everyone in our community to support those

impacted by domestic violence, by literally walking a

“mile in her shoes.” Men may supply their own

shoes or choose from one of the dozens of pairs of

heels and boots provided. Women are encouraged to

register as “Sister Walkers.” Led by a drumline, all

walkers will make their way along the one-mile

journey to Hanover Square from Winebrenner’s

amid cheering crowds and honking horns.

Started in 2012, the YWCA Hanover SAFE HOME

“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” is part of a national

movement centered around domestic violence

awareness and fundraising. YWCA Hanover SAFE

HOME serves men, women, and children, and

provides free comprehensive domestic violence

services including a 24-hour hotline, legal advocacy,

safety planning, court accompaniment, counseling

for adults and children, and much more. “Walk a

Mile in Her Shoes” serves as the major fundraising

event for YWCA

Hanover SAFE

HOME.

Last year SAFE

HOME served

over 1,351 clients,

responded to 107

Lethality

Assessments calls,

took more than

593 Emergency

Hotline calls, provided over 58 presentations to

schools and community groups, and provided

emergency shelter when the local domestic violence

shelters were full for 17 people for a total of 28 days.

Participation and sponsorships for our “Walk a Mile

In Her Shoes” are critical to meeting the needs of

victims and their families.

Domestic violence affects at least 1 in 4 women in the

United States, and as a community, we continue to

walk together each year to make a statement against

domestic violence. Awareness and support are

crucial to those who need our services: fostering

healthy families strengthens our community, and

makes our residents safer, stronger, and more

productive.

Individuals and teams are welcome!

To register on-line go to:

WWW.FIRSTGIVING.COM/YWCAHANOVER. We

also have sponsorship opportunities ranging from

$250.00 – $5,000.00. If you would like any

additional information, please contact Michelle Shae

@ 717-637-2125 or [email protected].
