In 1959, the Yves Rocher Brand was created from the vision of one man who believedin beauty care based on plants and the democratisation of beauty for all women. These two convictions were what enabled the creation of Yves Rocher’s Botanical Beauty.

Botanical Beauty is a contract between Yves Rocher and the plant worldand Yves Rocher and women. A commitment based on respect and proximityto women.

Botanical Beauty is a unique and incomparable beauty care whose strengthlies in its exclusive association with five active principals issued from nature’suniversal values. Botanical Beauty is determined to promote these values fromthe plant to the skin.

100% botanical?Yves Rocher, Creator of Botanical Beauty is not dogmatic. When the quality andsafety of its customers requires the use of synthetic ingredients in its products, then Botanical Beauty researchers allow it, to help join pleasure and security duringuse. Specifically, in the case of preservatives, small amounts are needed toguarantee the integrity of the formulas.

Botanical collagen doesnot exist so we do not usecollagen in our products.Botanical Beauty’sresearchers prefer to usethe firming qualities ofbotanical polysides foundin the Acacia tree fromSenegal.

There are no synthetic sun filtersin our day creams. Instead,Yves Rocher has chosen mangiferinfrom the Aphloia plant fromMadagascar, which naturallyprotects the skin againstenvironmental aggressors.

07••••••••••••

There are no animal extractsin Yves Rocher's formulas. The only ingredients of animal originin Yves Rocher's products are certainsecretions like honey. Notably,Yves Rocher does not use the redpigment cochineal, which is frequentlyused in eye shadows, because it ismade from insects.

Synthetic ingredients are limitedto the minimum.Formulas are constrained by very strictguidelines which limit the authorizedsynthetic ingredients that may be used.Whenever possible syntheticingredients are replaced by naturalones. Petrochemical oils such asparaffin, are being progressivelyreplaced by botanical oils.

Natural extractionIn order to preserve the purity of thebotanical ingredients, natural extractionprocesses, which don't use chemicalsolvents, are preferred.

Priority is systematically givento organic botanical ingredients. As in ARNICA ESSENTIAL, HAMAMELIS,PURE CALMILLE and LAVANDEESSENTIAL. Our new line, CULTUREBIO, which is launching in October2008, contains 19 organic plants.

THE PLANT WORLDAS THE SOURCEOF INSPIRATION

The plant world; a sourceof well-beingIt is in La Gacilly, in the heart ofBrittany, that Yves Rocher studies thebest of the plant world and thespecific qualities of each of the 1 000plant species grown in its botanicalgardens. It then uses them in its face, body and hair care products. Itorganically grows more than 30 plantsin its own fields: German chamomilefor its skin care line PURE CALMILLE,arnica for its hand care line ARNICAESSENTIAL, garden nasturtiumand marigold for its new line,CULTURE BIO.

Across the world, ethno-botanicalprojects headed by Jacques Rocher, explore different plants which revealnew qualities to be used in cosmetics. The Aphloia was discovered inMadagascar and its remarkableprotecting qualities have enrichedPROTECTYL VEGETAL's suncare products.

The plantworld is a source of highperformance productsYves Rocher's research is deeply dedicated tobotanical innovation. 20 teams of plantresearchers discover, isolate and formulate thethe most effective active ingredients textures.Researchers create and develop more than 30new active ingredients every year. More than50 families of products have been patented. Most recently Apple Oligosides, werepatented 3 times for their exceptionalanti-aging properties. They are the mainactive ingredient in SERUM VEGETAL.Previously, Inositol Végétal issued from greenrice was discovered and is used for itseffectiveness on cellular respiration. It can befound in the INOSITOL VEGETAL line.

Defending the environmentmeans using the richness ofthe plant world without everplundering it, ensuring that

when using a plant species itnever threatens the plant, its

future or its environment.

Plants are sown, grow and reseed themselves in a never endingcircle. From the moment he began making beauty products, theywere the source of Yves Rocher's first conviction to respect andprotect life and its fragility.
