With summer coming to an end, one might start to say goodbye to ice-cream blues and cotton candy pinks, but don’t through out your pastel mentality

too fast. Jil Sander’s, Chloe, and Elie Saab all revealed that yes, you can do pastels in the winter

months. Instead of bundling up in your typical black leather jacket or tan trench think about going a little bit brighter. Step aside dreary

blacks and dull browns, this winter it is time for color! Great layering pieces such as jackets and sweaters allow for an easy touch of pastel in any

wardrobe. So, next time you go to grab something drab get inspired and think Jil, you can’t go wrong

with a good pastel this season!

Anticipating the release

of her new movie The Dark Knight Rises on July 20th, leading lady Anne Hathaway finds herself setting a trend. With fall approaching designers and people are looking to celebrities and movies for inspiration and new looks for the season. All the designers have picked up on the same trend. With pictures

released from the movie Anne Hathaway revealed her new Catwoman costume. The classic leather bodysuit creates an edgy sophisticated look that will be the trend of the season. As is gets closer to the release of the movie we see her bodysuit inspired look on the catwalks. Designers such as Alexander Wang, YSL, Givenchy and Emilio Pucci have done an amazing job transforming the tight leather outfit into great clothes for fall. The designers have done everything in leather, coats, dresses, jumpsuits and so on. This sleek chic style is perfect for fall and will continue to

stay for 2013. This leather look is very practical and easy to do. Leather pants, skirts or dresses are great and stylish for the season.

Catwoman Takes over the catwalk

BIG IS IN. Big coats, sweaters, capes, and jackets, reminiscent of the 80’s “go big or go home” attitude, are the hot ticket item this season. Some might be hesitant to rock this style because when most people think big, they think BIG (as in body type.) However, there are a lot of ways to wear oversized outerwear without sacrificing a slim figure. Pairing a large sweater with slim fit jeans or tights is one option. Sporting a fitted blouse or sweater with an oversized coat would look great as well. One thing to keep in mind is that less is more. Wearing more than one oversized piece can give off a frumpy vibe, so sticking to one key piece keeps you looking trendy and sleek.

Peplums for Fall

From the runway to celebs and street style this fall you will be seeing a return of the Peplum waist. This hip accentuating trend will be a go to look for fashionistas everywhere in fall 2012.

The peplum was first introduced in the the late 1940’s, showing a new silhouette flaunting an hourglass figure. Since then the peplum has taken a backseat but is

now being forecasted as a hot trend for fall.

The peplums seen on the runway have been shown in quite a practical way for the everyday woman. The garment itself is quite flattering for any body shape and can be dressed up or down for all occasions.

Starting with the runway peplum, Armani (shown above, left) pairs a peplum top with dress pants and a hat to create a business casual look. While celebrity Olivia Palermo

(shown above, middle) wears her more edgy leather peplum with navy shorts and wedges for a more glam party look. A third peplum look is shown in the form of street style (shown above, right). In this photo we see a classic black peplum top paired with some colored jeans and statement jewelry to create more of a casual lunch date type of look look.

The peplum, being such a versatile piece, will serve as a great addition to any wardrobe. With so many ways to style a peplum, how will you wear it this fall?

One of my favorite things during the

hot summer and early fall is tart frozen

yogurt. This treat is awesome for hotter

days or if you are looking for a sweet but

healthy dessert. The tart yogurt is a

good substitute for traditional ice

cream. It is a healthier alternative with

probiotics, less fat and sugar, and lots of

protein. The best part of tart yogurt is

that it is completely customizable with

toppings of fruit and candy.

One great item to have in your closet for this year’s transition from

summer to fall is a wedged sneaker. They look like the classic high-tops

you love, but they have a secret heel! I have a great pair from Steven by

Steve Madden, which are super comfortable and go with almost

everything in my closet. They come in lots of great colors (classic

neutrals, or brights for the adventurous fashionista)

and are made by a range of designers so you’ll always

be able to find a fabulous pair in your price range.

One of my favorite buys this season was a glamorous pair of tortoise shell sunglasses from

H&M. Usually I stick to my Ray Ban aviators to make it through the summer, but after a few

too many trips through my over- crowded purse, scratched and smudged they had to be retired!

In search of the perfect pair of new shades I wandered up and down 5th Avenue but saw nothing

I either liked or could afford. Finally, I came to H&M and on a whim went inside. There they

were; the perfectly rounded, tortoise. There they were; the perfectly rounded, tortoise shell rims

with wonderful gold detailing along the front and the sides. After trying them on in a daze of

excitement, I hit the streets looking like a star!

H&M definitely has a great new look and I would

highly recommend getting your next pair of shades

there.
