WE ARE HONORED TO DEDICATE THIS HUMBLE PUBLICATION TO OUR MASTER AND KING, THE IMAM (A.S) OF OUR TIMES

IMAM-E-ZAMANA (A.S.AJTFS).

Alhamdulillah as per tradition here at the Hussaini Foundation another summer volunteering Program for the youths completed successfully. The testimonials and reflections presented in this Special Edition by our volunteers who participated this year will vouch for the success of the program.

This year also a large number of youth applied for the various volunteer programs and through rigorous and tedious process the panel selected this years’ volunteers.

The HF volunteers went far and wide to volunteer and support their brothers and sisters across the country and in the process increase their knowledge & skills ten folds.

Some Ninety (90) aspiring individuals went out this year to tough beautiful and adventurous places like Chakwal&Muzaffarabad, some volunteered at the Fatimiyah Hospital while others at Hussaini Blood Bank. There were those who volunteered in schools like Meezan Academy & Rose Petal. A large group of volunteers also

came to Child Development Centre of HF for Remedial teaching and I must say there feedback is so amazing and hopeful.

This year we partnered with a school and shared our volunteer services with them by sending our youth to volunteer at their Summer Camp for kids. This is Rose Petal School in the vicinity of Soldier Bazar area of Karachi, our volunteers had a great time teaching, helping and learning with beautiful little angels.

I feel privileged and honored to be part of the volunteers group and like last year lead a team of three remarkably talented youth volunteers along with my extremely able colleague who all of us at HF are really proud of, Sana-e-Zehra.

The ten days spent at Fatimiyah Educational Complex in Muzaffarabad, AJK will remain a beautiful lifetime memory for the group. Not only did we engage in different sessions for arts & crafts, teachers training and research work (conducted by Sana-e-Haidry for kids with Learning Difficulties), we got to enjoy the breath taking scenery of Kashmir all the way to the Neelum Valley alongside the Indian border. We discovered the challenging life on mountains and the enthusiasm of families for giving their future generation good education and the risks they take every day in order to achieve that goal. Kashmiri hospitality is remarkable and our volunteers were most humbled by the love and respect they received wherever they went.

One of the most memorable experiences for the group was the night of 15thShabaan that was spent at Fatimiyah Auditorium in reciting Milad and congregational prayers amongst the moonlit majestic mountains of Muzaffarabad, something they had never experienced before in their lives.

SHABASH to ALL our wonderful volunteers and best of luck wherever your adventurous journey takes you.

Our volunteers with AJK Flag at Fatimiyah Complex

I worked there as an Occupational Therapist and facilitator of Art & Craft work. My team members were very cooperative, friendly and supportive. Not only this but all the staff members of Fatimiyah were very kind and helpful as well as their hospitality was remarkable and appreciable. Volunteering there gave me the opportunity to teach them new ideas of art and craft work. The students enthusiastically participated in all the activities and enjoyed alot. Students were keen to learn new activities and were very loving. It gives me the satisfaction of playing role in someone else life, helping them in learning new skills who may not be able to help themselves. Volunteering is a way of giving back to our community while developing important social skills and gaining valuable work experience all at the same time. I had taken session with teachers on occupational therapy in which I gave them a brief introduction of occupational therapy & discussed common problems related to it.It is a great way to meet people, learn and develop social skills where as it helps us to gain confidence and learn new skills. The adventurous part of this trip was the journey to Neelum valley. We enjoyed and had fun. I am thankful to Almighty Allah (S.W.T.) for the talent he gave me, chance to see the creations, and beauty of nature, then I am very thankful to the CDPHF for giving me this opportunity and I am very grateful to everyone who supported me and made my trip wonderful and memorable. "Volunteers are not paid not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless!"

MUZAFFARABAD, AJK

AlizaYousuf: Child development Program under

Hussaini Foundation CDP-HF had organized a volunteering program in which the youths were given a platform to show their capabilities and develop their skills. We were sent to volunteer atFatimiyah Complex. Fatimiyah Educational Complex is an organization which offers education to primary, secondary, F.Sc and Hawza levels. We felt lucky to be staying at such a majestic and beautiful place. All team members were very supportive and cooperative. I enjoyed working there and am honored to be part of this youth programme. Shan-e-Fatima, Farheen and myselfwere given the task of working with primary students from The Future School in Art and craft activities. I introduced them different activities like thumb painting, hand painting, craft and colouring. I found students to be quite energetic and hyperactive but they were keen to learn what they were being taught and they took interest in it. The students enjoyed and had fun working with us. Fatimiyah’s students initially did not show interest in arts and craft but the great effort they all showed later, their creativity wasa great gift for me. My big achievement came from Uswa Public High School. I teach grade 6 & 7 and introduced wall painting by hands even they all showed their marvelous thoughts and they paint two walls in only one and half hour with the great creativity. The big thing is they don’t know how we use paint on walls they all are so much excited and they believe in their selves. Although my team members and I faced challenges and Allhamdullilah we succeed. I am very thankful to Miss Gulrukh Razi for her support. We not only enjoyed our work but the beauty of Kashmir as every evening we used to go like charwaya , waterfalls, darya e neelum, ending daily trips with tasting delicious flavors Kashmir has to offer. This was one of the best and amazing experiences of my life. I am grateful to the Hussaini Foundation for giving me this opportunity and I am very thankful to Miss Sajida, Miss Fatima who gave me the chance to explore my talent. Miss Gulrukh Razi and Miss Sana e Haidery, Shan-e-Fatima and Farheen you guys made my days. I am very thankful to everyone who made our trip amazing& memorable especially Fatimiyah team and Miss Fizza and thanks to my family for their support in making me avail this opportunity.

SyedaFarheen HassanKashmir is one of the

best beautiful place in the world that has himalayans peak, rivers, water falls, mountains, forests. It seems like Heaven on Earth. I visited Kashmir for the first time as a volunteer in Fatimiyah Educational Complex, Muzzafarabad and Uswa Public High School, Kardala.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS FROM AJK MUZAFFARBAD VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE

Shan-e-FatimaAzad Jammu Kashmir, though beautiful and welcoming, is one of the prettiest and self-governing

regions of Pakistan. I have had the pleasure to serve my services for better as a volunteer at Fatimiyah Educational

Complex AJK along with four of the best people. This was the chance to change the lives of those around you for

the better and leave a skill to the young generation that will last for decades to come.

For around 10 days, we were conducting sessions/classes for teaching Art and Craft. Meanwhile I have also been

shooting a small Pictorial album about the school with my fellow.Along with the craft activities, we focused on

learning such as language skills, mathematics science and moral values in an indirect way. We could see our success

in the students who started to try converse in English as what they were listening to and told to, helping each

other, advising, sharing ideas, thoughts and materials, respecting each other, and showing Good team leading skills

especially in higher classes. Initially we had some problems in managing kids from Future school but we got a way

to make them in small groups and working with them altogether. It was amazing that the students were very adept

at learning to put together their creativity in art. Hawza girls also showed up to learn and helped us with the other

girls.

To me, the best day was the last one, when students were asked to make anything of their choice and were given

the material they asked for. With a little by little instruction and monitoring, students showed the remarkably far

better response to our expectations. Kids at Uswa School Kardala had far way better imagination and creativity

skills but just because of lack of material and resources they stand a back and that was hurtful. But it was a good

feeling as well that in those area we do have gems in there and we worked with them.

All the moments spent in Kashmir still rules our minds and hearts. I must say it was an amazing experience and

learning to us. And surely would like to thank Hussaini Foundation for taking me in to perform these amazing tasks.

CHAKWAL

Ali Jawad This summer I got an opportunity to volunteer with Hussaini Foundation and represent the

organization in a school/college in Dhudial, a district of Chakwal in Punjab. Uswa College was the institute I, along

with three other volunteers, was sent to. Our total stay there in Dhudial was of nine days in which we were

supposed to work and do various activities with the students of Uswa College.

Uswa College was a boarding school and so the students were on campus 24/7. We, the volunteers, were also given

accommodation on campus so that we could spend maximum time with the students and get to know and

experience their schedule as well.

The first couple of days were a little hard for us to adjust to their schedule as the students started off their day right

after Fajr prayer, which meant waking up at 4am. After the prayer, they recited the Holy Quran for half an hour after

which they either did sports or during exams, did preparation for their exams. Right after they got done with the

sports they had breakfast and then went in for classes/exam.

Our timings to visit the school were a little bad as their term examinations had just begun. The students were busy

preparing for their exams while the teachers were busy with grading papers. Nevertheless we got an amazing

response from both the students and the teachers who were all very humble and welcoming. The head of the

institute, Lt. Col Syed Mussawwar Hussain Shah (R) deserves special mention and appreciation for he was a perfect

role model for the teachers and the students. His personality inspired me and my fellow volunteers too.

Talking about the interaction with kids in classrooms, we spent most of our time with the eleventh grade because

they were free from exams so while the junior classes were busy doing their exam, we had time to do activities with

the eleventh graders. We did quick math with them, we did IQ tests, general knowledge quizzes, career counseling

and English speeches for confidence building. With the younger classes we used to interact with them during their

prep time. This was the time when all the students were in their classes but they weren’t being taught by teachers,

this was self study. With grade sixth, seventh and eighth we did an art and craft activity. We divided them into

groups provided them with all the materials needed. This was a different experience for them because in Uswa

College, art and craft activities weren’t of much importance hence were not done very often. After the activity we

chose the best three projects and they were awarded with prizes to appreciate them. With ninth and tenth, we did

similar activities like we did with the eleventh graders.

Two days before we left, the principal also organized a trip for us to visit the nearby famous places and some

madrassas. We went to Khewra Salt Mines, the historical Katas temples and Kallar Kahar Lake, after which we

visited a couple of madrassas and then we went to the Vice Principal’s house. Later, we went to the Principal’s

house as he had invited us over for dinner.Overall it was a wonderful trip where we learned and taught at the same

time. We gained and we gave.

Muhammad Mehdi Rajani It was 31st of May when we entered Uswa College. We were welcomed in an

enthusiastic manner by the staff and the students of college. We already had a little bit of idea regarding the rules

and regulations of this college because we were told that this is a cadet college. Soon we met the principal of the

college Col Mussawwar Hussain Shah. In our very first meeting we recognized the personality of Col. Each and every

sentence said by him was a source of inspirations and wisdom for us. Very precisely he told us about the rules and

regulations of college which were explained later. We were very much impressed by the rules and regulations of the

college which were designed by the Col. From the very next day we started implementing the rules in our routine. I

think this is the only routine which helps the students to become firm and stable in their lives. The performance of

the teachers that we watched in these 10 days was outstanding. There is an excellent coordination between the

students and teachers which prevents the students to think about the absence of their parents. It is good that all the

students are strictly ordered to follow the rules of college. The performance of the college is progressing day by day

and I hope that in few years this college will be competing with the top colleges of Pakistan. In short I must say that

the credit of all the achievements and success of this college goes to the principal of this college. He is a perfect

exemplar for the staff and students of this college. He is a precious asset to our community and we all must pray for

the prolongation of his life.

Suggestions

Here are some of the suggestions that can be helpful for more betterment of this college

1. College library must be maintained and some of the O level books must be added as these books have convenient

examples regarding the theory which will help students to understand the topic in a better way.

2. Most of the students wish to go in Pak army but they don’t know any alternate path which could be chosen in case

of rejection from the army, which means that the students do not have any awareness regarding any field other than

army. It would be very much fruitful if the students are asked about their choices and discussed over that. Especially

the students must be told about CSS and fields of science

3. Although the college is situated in a rural area of Pakistan but still I think the students must have awareness

regarding the current affairs of the country and international relations. For this the students must read daily

newspapers and should have discussions with their fellows and teachers.

Hasnain Ali It was 30th May when we started our journey towards Chakwal to render our volunteering services in

one of the colleges i.e. Uswa College located in Dhudial village 20 km before Chakwal. It was my first experience and

I managed to learn, explore and teach many new things from this tour. We were assigned some duties that were

regarding teaching in UswaCollege. We have to accomplish this task in only 10 days. It was not like traditional

teaching but we have to design those activities which could groom their skills and test their knowledge in practical

situations. For this we selected the topics like Quick Maths, General Science, IQ, General Knowledge and Career

Counselling which could give a vivid view of the world around them. We manage to teach all these subjects but not

to that extent that is up to the mark. The reason was that we had only a limited time and we had a little interaction

with the students because of their exams. Beside from this it was an exemplary college who were morally building

the character of the student with a great perfection. I was really impressed by their daily routine and wished that I

could also adopt this routine in this busy life. The students were very much hard working and always ready to

embrace new ideas from others. For instance we had an art and craft activity in which the students participated

enthusiastically and manage to create very exuberant pieces of work under very limited resources. If the students

are provided with such activities, a new vision of knowledge, modern teaching techniques and modern topics and

vast number of fields around them so they can definitely prove themselves as a strong educated member of this

society. Despite of teaching we also learned and explored many areas that we had never visited before. Like we

visited Katas temples and kalarkahar that are the historical remains of the civilizations that ever lived in these areas.

Salt mines that are a great source of tourism and one of the wonders of nature. We also experienced the village life

and compared it with our great busy city Karachi. Above all it was an informative, valuable, interesting and thrilling

experience of my life.

Muhammad Abbas 1. The Campus: It was built in a secure area of village named Dhodial (approximate 20km

from Chakwal). The campus was established on a big area, consisting of 3 main blocks, a mosque and a dining hall.

One of the blocks was students’ hostel, one was faculty residence and the third block was for school. The school

block consisted of 18 rooms out of which 14 were class rooms. The sports ground was quite large. And the canteen

had healthy eatables and fruits for a very reasonable cost. The entire campus was powered by generator so

electricity wasn’t an issue. The mosque was very well constructed and could accommodate around 400 students

easily.

2. The Faculty and Students:The faculty and students were very humble especially the principal. The principal had a

down to earth personality which was a great source of inspiration for us. Majority of the faculty belonged to

Chakwal and all of them were well educated in various fields. They were very influential on students and used

effective methods of teaching to motivate students. Each student was set under observation for improvement and

had a counseling session in the beginning of his admission. Majority of students belonged to remote area with very

limited or less facilities of education and infrastructure. Students were observed to be very responsive and

discipline in nature.

3. Art & Craft Activity: The time we spent there were their exam days so we had some difficulties to implement our

plans accordingly. We decided to have some fun activity so we combined three classes (6, 7 and 8) for an art and

craft competition. We provided them with all of the accessories and material; in the end we selected 3 best

projects so that we can reward them as appreciation.

4. Interactive Sessions: We were not supposed to teach them anything that felt like burden to them so it was

suitable to have some interactive session to improve their speaking skill and IQ level; we also had some quiz

activities regarding mental mathematics and general knowledge so that students would take some interest.

5. Career Counseling: The higher grades and the graduating batch regarding career counseling to make them aware

about various fields of education and the best universities all around the Pakistan specifically in Karachi. Many of

them aimed to be a part of Pak Army but they don’t have awareness about other education field which could make

their future better.

6. Outdoor Excursion: A day before we left, the Principal organized a trip, for us to visit the historical and

amusement parks nearby Chakwal. We visited the salt mine in Khewra and the historical temples located at Katas,

afterwards we had lunch at KallarKahar, a beautiful place with an amusement park. At the end of the day we

visited Vice principals place and different Madressas working under the management of Shaikhshahab, in the end

we had dinner at principal’s place. All were very pleasant and memorable moments.

MEEZAN ACADEMY

Maham Zehra This year, 2015, it was my second year at Meezan Academy as a summer camp volunteer teacher.

The summer camp began on 5th of June and most of the kids participating in the camp were of Meezanschool

itself. There were both girls and boys. Boys were handled by male volunteer while girls by us, female volunteers.

The girls were further divided into three groups according to their classes. A pair of teachers were allotted to each

group, who conducted different activities in their classes.

I was paired with a fellow volunteer, Sanabil and we were allotted a group of students ranging from classes 1 to 5.

We decorated pencils, made loom bands and paper clip bracelets. There was also a volunteer, Amena who taught

yoga and conducted cooking classes. There was a student, Baneen, who earned a special place in my heart. She was

an adorable, feisty little kid. Who had good comebacks to each and every statement/sentence of ours. There was

an another student, Wajeeha, who was the exact opposite of Baneen. She was quiet natured, sober and smart. She

would complete all her activities without help and then further on help others. Just like these two, all the students

in our class/group were polar opposites of each other, but the thing common in all of them was that they were fun

loving.

Last day of the camp, that was 15th of June, a naat/manqabat/poem recitation competition was held. The students

were also rewarded with certificates at the end. All in all, it was once again a really amazing experience and I

enjoyed a lot.

Ali Mehdi HemaniAs I am very much interested in social work. I was thinking what to do in summer and came to

know aboutyouth volunteer service programme under Hussaini Foundation. When I went for my interview, I was very

excited as it was my first experience. When I came to know about my selection I was very happy & then waited for the

first day of volunteering. I tried my best to and selected as a teacher for two weeks at Meezan Academy .My happiness

was immense as my heart was touching the sky.

On 10th June 2015 my first day at Meezan Academy was a start of a great experience for me, I was not sure of what to

do with students. I choose ‘mind map’ tool and explained about Pakistan to help them learn about paragraph writing.

Students enjoyed and participated well in the activity. At the end I asked them to write 10 sentences about Pakistan. It

was now easier for them to do so thus I was happy that my efforts were valuable. Students also enjoyed arts and craft

activities. They were given clay to play with and they made different things like snowman, grave etc. The whole class

was engaged happily in this activity. Once we made a loom band with the students. They really enjoyed this activity

and they all made two loom bands.

On the last day, I prepared a skit with students about classroom and different styles of teaching and few students also

showed their hidden talents. The programmeended with certificate and gift distribution and with good memories.

Lastly I am very thankful to Hussaini Foundation Team for organizing such creative activity camps during the summer

holidays and providing me an opportunity to be part of the energetic team. It’s a start for me but I really learnt a lot and

feel that am able to learn more and be productive for the community children, InshaAllah.

Fasih Raza As I got the chance to serve my nation, I decided to spend some time at community school and serve

the future of my country. To start with, I would like to thank Hussaini Foundation for giving me the opportunity and

I would like to extend my gratitude to the teachers and volunteers who were with me at The Meezan Academy for

their support.

Primarily, my aim was to help students overcome their deficiencies in academic as well as in their interpersonal

skills. Different level students were there so multiple activities were arranged including different sports, video

learning, art activities and academic teaching as well. A video learning session was arranged to show students the

damages of usage of betel nuts and how betel nuts are prepared and another video was shown to students

regarding hand washing and their benefits. Students were quite interested in arts too, so activities like preparation

of loom bands and making of pottery toys with clay were arranged, which were really enjoyed. To be physically fit

is as important as being mental fit, so students were indulged in different sports among them cricket was the

mostly enjoyed one. Students were also taught academic subjects to help them get the better understanding of

basic subjects as they were taught in a very friendly environment. English and Mathematics were focused mainly

but other subjects like physics and chemistry were taught too. Students were able to share their deficiencies and

were happy to learn more and more due to friendly environment.

Finally, with the accomplishment of the summer camp of students, gifts were distributed amongst them along with

certificates. The whole journey to TheMeezan Academywas marvelous, I leant many things from it and I

recommend everybody to be a part of Youth Volunteer Service as it is all fun and learning.

Mujtaba SharifI had a chance to serve my

community in an effective way that is byteaching

the under privileged ones and use my skills in order

to helpthem overcome their academic as well as

their interpersonal issues.

Itwas definitely one of the most amazing experiences of my life whichhelped me learn great things. It actually was a joy to spend some ofthe most amazing moments and precious time with these children and helping them learn many things. The journey finished with the distribution of certificates to them.

I thank Hussaini foundation form making me a part of this workshop and giving me this great opportunity.

Child Development Centre – Hussaini Foundation

Narjis Fatima Working with Hussaini Foundation is most informational and inspiring experience in my life.

Generally, I had a great time with my students and felt supported from day first by management which boosts my

confidence. The things which really inspire me at working with Hussaini Foundation are following:

Best class room environment which really motivate the students towards the studies.

Friendly and family like supporting management and teachers.

All sources and new technology of teaching are available.

This is first time I work there but it was an awesome experience because I not only taught but also learnt from my

students. As it was remedial class so each teacher has to teach one or two children and have to identify the area in

which they have to work hard or need some improvement so me and my other co teachers work with great interest and

loyalty and work hard to accomplish our goal and we are happy that at the last we see change in our students and the

thing I am most proud of is that our students are also happy with us and they also like the classes.

I only work for 15-18 days there but the experience I get from it is long lasting and it is very fruitful for me. I never knew

about my teaching skills I thought that it will be difficult task for me to teach but after working there I not only get to

know that teaching is not as difficult as I think previously but also get to know about my hidden teaching skills. In short

I can simply say that teaching and learning are the two things which lead us towards the success so we should never

stop them.

My journey is just started and hope for the best in the future. Thanks Hussaini Foundation for giving me this bright

starter.

Moattar Fatimah Bhojani, I had volunteered in the Summer Camp which was organized by Hussaini

Foundation. It was the wonderful experience for me as I got to work with Miss Sajida and other volunteers.

It was 15 days camp in which I was given the task to conduct 2 days Science class. One day I was with the older kids and

the 2nd day was with the younger ones but the important thing which means a lot was the lesson which they took that

day i.e. Making Indoor Rainbow, Giving the concept of Earth’s spinning by making top & Giving the lesson about

components of blood and blood groups.

Other than these 2 days I was there as a volunteer. Seeing them learning something was the main reason which let me

feel that, ‘Yes! I did something.’

“Life’s most urgent question is: What are you doing for others.”(Martin Luther King Jr.)

At the end I would like to pray from Allah that do shower all your blessings on the one who help others especially on

Hussaini Foundation.

Sammar Fatima The best thing which I learned at Hussaini Foundation while being a part of remedial teaching is

that every child is special and have unique abilities what we teachers do is enhance their abilities and help them to

share and show the problem that they are facing or having regarding education.

I have also been a part of the Summer Camp to celebrate Cleanliness Day. I enjoyed a lot especially when I saw my

students getting engaged in interesting activities.

The Coordinator was also very cooperative and always found a way through problems throughout the course.

Working at Hussaini Foundation was really a wonderful experience for me and will surely become a part of this

organization if ever given a chance in future.

Muhaddisah Kanani Last year I spent my summer break volunteering at Hussaini Foundation and found the

experience so wonderful that I chose the same for this summer and this year also we had a lot of fun.

We were supposed to work with children of 3 age group, 4-5, 5-6 and 7-11 for 15 days and we had lots of amazing

activities for each day. I was supposed to conduct the science activities with the eldest group. It was quite difficult

to plan the activities as we didn’t knew the children’s understanding level, but Alhamdolillah the kids enjoyed in all

those activities we planned for them.

All the kids were very cute and it was fun to work with them. Most of them loved talking except for a couple of

students who were shy in the beginning but it was satisfying to see that soon they started enjoying and

participating in activities. I had a very nice time with all my co-volunteers, who were very cooperative and friendly

which made the experience even better. I was there to teach but along with that I learnt a lot too. I learnt how to

handle students with different behaviors, how to work with different people, most of all I learnt working for

others. I am thankful to Hussaini Foundation for providing us such a platform that brings forward our skills and for

appreciation which encourages us to work harder.

Maham I am going to share my first experience as a volunteer at Hussaini Foundation. Before I was use to

teaching a number of students in one class but this was new experience for me to teach the students who needs

individual attention and a challenging thing for me was that I had face an emotional and academic behavior of all

types of children daily.

In start I was worried how I would handle them but after day by day I had learned so many strategies to use the

different activities and ways to handle them also because I had to do daily planning by myself. Just one child who

was with me daily accept him I had different student with different challenges and at the end I had learned

different ways to handle the different problems and had seen improvement.

The difficult problem for me was emotional behavior because I had handle a child sometimes who became harsh

and this was so challenging to tackle him.At the end I had learned so many strategies and ways to managed

different types of students, that was very interesting and a very great pleasure to work with those students.

Zahra Fatima Shahid I was chosen as a volunteer to work for the remedial session organized by Hussaini

Foundation. This was my second experience with Hussaini Foundation. The course was completely different from the

past year. This year we were supposed to work with children individually for 2 hours. We divided half hour for English,

half hour for Maths, half hour for activity(cutting, pasting, colouring) and half hour for games. It was quite a difficult

task to understand child mind/skill level and then plan activity accordingly. With little effort the work was done

because the children were co-operative.

By the end of the session I loved watching expressions of success on the face of children. I remember when I asked one of the child to write picture comprehension and she started to and when she was done the look of confidence on her face made me feel out of this world. At that moment I realized how important is to boost up a child's confidence. Throughout the remedial session I found Ms. Sajida to be an amazing supporter and guide. I learned many things like

responsibilities and time management and the best thing I gained is that I have started trusting myself.

Anum Fatima I was given a task to teach 15 years old girl. I would like to share my experience with Naba she was

a special girl with a low IQ. She could hit me tease me fortunately she did well. I find out that Naba has a potential

she recognized colours numbers but unfortunately she did not speak enough but perform the action which were

told by me. At the very first day we provided Naba with a ring game that became her favourite activity she used to

play the ring game for hours without getting bored she used to find that ring toy herself daily .after 3 days we tried

to trick Naba by hiding the ring toy she got very tensed and was continuously worried about that toy. Naba is good

in matching & writing numbers recognizing colours and colouring but with the help of my hands.

She couldn't perform sums and was not interested at all. I try to explain her sums but she couldn't concentrate in

them. Even I try to help in solving the sums given by her school teacher but she lacked the concentration.

To be honest it was a very wonderful experience I taught the special child for the very first time. I really enjoyed

teaching Naba. Every smile of Naba gave me an immense power and happiness. I look forward to teach more and

more students.

Zainab Imran Each teacher can recount numerous highs and lows in their teaching career. Personally, I

experienced many great moments while teaching. This experience changed me as a teacher. Students are people who have feelings and who don't want you to feel cornered.

It was the matter of couple of weeks as a volunteer service in Hussaini Foundation ... but for me the experienced,

the learning was way too much. In some ways, it's almost like I was more than just a teacher to those children. I was

a real mentor who was able to connect with them and fully understand their backgrounds and help them become

the leaders of tomorrow. I tried my level best to help kids to overcome their fears, as overcoming fears means you

are becoming stronger. Teaching kids in HF opened the gates of my brain. Now I will never made assumptions again

about a student as every student is different; no two students react in the same way. It is our tasks as teachers to

find not only what motivates each student to learn but also what motivates them to misbehave.

Afsheenzehra volunteered at Hussaini foundation summer camp for around 15 days. Those days were really

exciting for me. We had to handle kids from 4 to 11 years old. It was fun to help them. Arts and crafts, cooking,

storytelling, poems and much more. Not only we taught them various things but we also learnt New Year things

from them. I conducted cooking class which was very interesting. Kids enjoyed cold cooking and got familiar with

new recipes. I think the main purpose was to engage children in activities which are fun and also give them chance

to learn. Meeting new people and handling kids was a very new but nice experience. All the volunteers were

cooperative and friendly. I hope these kinds of activities will further be organized.

FATIMIYA HOSPITAL

Zainab Abbas I have learned a lot simply by observing drugs utilizing in hospital pharmacy as well clinical pharmacy. I

have learned major portion of drugs dispensing. By contacting and collaborating with different pharmacist and working

organization, it really developed my management skills. During the whole month of internship, store and clinical pharmacy, I

have deeply studied about different drugs brand, indications, their adverse effects their appropriate and inappropriate uses

by which I'd correlate my theatricals studies with practical studies I also learned how to keep check and balance of whole

pharmacy by doing critical everyday of injectable, tablets, syrups, capsules and expensive medication as well. This internship

experience improves my practical professional skills as well and influences to interact with different peoples, staff and my

confidence level as well.

ROSE PETAL SCHOOL Kauser Fatima KaramAli Child Developmental Program under Hussaini Foundation organize a volunteer

service program in which we our given a platform to show our skills and capabilities.. This time Hussaini foundation selected me for volunteering at Rose Petal School and made me the leader... We were five volunteers including me.. It was a summer camp at Rose Petal School not the remedial classes like last time when I was volunteering at Meezan Academy... The summer camp was conducted by Farheen Hassan and AmbreenRaza.. So the activities were already planned this time... We only had to assist the management team to conduct the class... Sometimes it was a challenge because of mixed age groups of kids but we managed... This summer camp was beneficial for the kids... Kids made lots of pretty things like butterfly, bookmark, bug on the leaf etc... We also had a Yellow day... In which kids enjoyed eating the King fruit i.e Mango... Kids also learned some safety tips and time in digital and analog form... In the end we had a party and certificate distribution ceremony... I am thankful to Hussaini Foundation for providing us an opportunity to utilize our vacations in a useful manner...

Anum Fatima Shahi My experience at volunteer teaching program at CDP-HF was amazing. I got the

opportunity to know myself. It gave me opportunity to learn more about outer world the world. I learned how to

make my knowledge helpful for others.

HF had sent me to Rose Patel School for volunteering. There I interacted with different kind of people and it was a big task to teach small kids. I really enjoyed there because the kids were so cute that it was fun to play and do different activities with them. I went HF on Saturday for volunteering and it was fun to do the sink and float activity with kids. The last day at Rose Patel was memorable as we made the yummy cupcakes and sandwiches and took a lot of pictures. I'll never forget that fun that laugher and as it was my first experience at HF and it helped me a lot so i'll make sure that this will not be my last experience with them.

SaimaBatool of the learning house higher secondary school (second year pre medical). I am highly thankful to

the members of Hussaini foundation who gave us chance for volunteer internship in Fatimiyah Hospital from 22

June to 2 July.

So here I have something to share my experience about my internship. It was great blessing for me having such an

environment of Fatimiyah Hospital. Really it's appreciable. I can mention that as a memorable life part where I

learned more and more things. Mr. feroz and Dr. kaneez Fatima were there for our coordination. Hospitality and

loving care of patients are the top to be mention following in Fatimiyah hospital. Really I am glad with such

environment of the hospital. At first they increase our knowledge about loving care of patients which is the most

important. At first when patient face us respectively we should welcome & be polite with patient. Loving care of

patients are the sign of humanity. We should be heart winner of patients. I learned there lots of things such as b.p,

height, weight, temperature & blood drawing etc. As well as putting injections & drips. I'm proud of myself

because within 10 days as other nurses there l was able to face patients confidently.

Mehdi KaramAliIt was an honour once again that the Child Development Programme of Hussaini Foundation

chose me to lead the team of male volunteers for Kardala, Azad Kashmir. While the journey was relatively smaller than the previous year, the experience in hand ensured that we can give our best to the students. This year, we were also able to include arts and sports activities (highly thankful to female volunteers particularly for arts) along with more interactive sessions on computer science.

The students too, now familiar with the programme seemed more interactive this year. While the preparation for term exam was a road block, the students, teachers and management did their level best to accommodate our activities within their schedules. The hospitality of our host family and the people of Kardala along with the last day drama performances of students created memories that I will cherish for the whole year.

Safeer Hussain This summer, I was given the opportunity to work with Hussaini Foundation. A trip was

arranged for Azad Kashmir to provide educational assistance at a school named USWA located at Kardala,

Muzaffarabad. I, along with the other volunteers, was given the task to teach/mentor the students & introduce

new ideas regarding student teaching techniques. The trip proved to be a good exposure for me. The time spent

with the school children was worth it. My co-workers and I enjoyed working with the children who were full of

enthusiasm and always were eager to learn more. The students were loving and friendly and took no time to

mingle. The beautiful mountains and greenery surrounding us made it an ideal place for us to teach and for the

kids to learn. The tour ended with a visit to Neelam Valley. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I look

forward to work with Foundation in future too.

ShauzabAliBismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim. It feels just like yesterday when I was playing with Fatmi, the son of our

Host Zakirbhai.

This summer, I was given the opportunity to work with Child Development Program of Hussaini Foundation. A

tour was arranged from Karachi and all the way to Kardala, Azad Kashmir. The purpose of sending us to the place

was basically to mentor the students for growing and giving them the knowledge of the growing opportunities

the world has to offer. I was given the opportunity of a school with a very well developed management and

faculty. It was good to see ourselves on the other side of the classroom after a bunch of years experiencing how

our teachers used to face us when we were school students.

This year, we tried to introduce new methods in interactive teaching of the subjects including Maths, English and

Computer Science. There were also sessions of ARTS and some classes of biology and chemistry. We in the end

tried to make the students own their school by decorating it, making charts for it, keeping it clean and do what

they can to represent USWA in the world.

Indeed it was a great opportunity to work with Hussaini Foundation, an amazing experience and looking forward

to visit the students of USWA again too in the near Future. Insha'Allah.

GUIDING STATEMENTS:

HUSSAINI BLOOD BANK HabibaM.Taqi I am from the Learning House School. I along with twelve of my class mates was part of Child

Development Program organized by Hussaini Foundation and gave my services as a volunteer at the Hussaini Blood Bank. Personally I never thought I would get an opportunity to work in laboratory but Hussaini youth volunteer services fulfilled my wish. I used to be afraid of blood but after working in blood bank I think that nothing is impossible. The experience was overall amazing. We got to know about Thalassemia patients, how the blood is transfused and the most important thing how to take the history of patients. So it was a good learning experience.

Basgul Muhammad Musa As I joined, HUSSAINI BLOOD BANK it was an amazing and different world for

which I don’t have any words to express. I saw people donating blood and also meet thalassemia patients. Volunteering there made me realize that I should motivate people to donate their blood for helpless patients. When I saw thalassemia patients, I thanked God for his blessings. And from this I got ambition for providing my services. Overall my experience has taught me a lot but our time was too short. It was a good opportunity Hussaini Foundation gave us that we serve Thalesemia patients.
