– Market animals are identified during the December ID period.

– Youth sign up for the program. • They provide an email to communicate with the

county office on details.

PROCESS CONT.

• Animals are brought to the Edgewood Livestock Commission in June.

• They are weighed, scanned and placed into pens.

• The participants use their feed records to finish their records.

• A display board is made….

• The student is evaluated by the judge on cattle uniformity, knowledge, management and performance.

• Reduces the variance of costs to the youth if you norm the cost of corn and other high value inputs.

• Some costs are specific to the child.

Clayton County Cattlemen andDairy Producers

• Sponsor all the trophies for the program.• Pay for all the scanning cost for the program.• Provide a meal to the participants while they do

their calculations.• Help with the weigh-in and scanning of cattle. • Line up Edgewood Livestock Commission for the

program.• Provide shirts to participants.
