Forget what your school tells you about senior portraits. Senior year is about doing your own thing, and we know you are a true original!

This year’s senior portrait theme is all about freedom. Freedom to express your style and personality. Freedom to show your individuality. Freedom to tell your story with images that reflect you. Freedom to be YOU.

We know you’ll be excited about your senior portraits when you see all the different ways you can express who you are. Our sessions are a fun, personalized experience where we’ll create amazing images of you. And no matter what, you’re free to be you!

1. Dare to be yourself. Wear whatever makes you feel most fabulous and most of all, like YOURSELF! When you feel comfortable and you know you look great, that added confidence will definitely come through in your photos. I love when gals add small details – cool shoes, cute dresses, fantastic prints, etc. – but most importantly, wear what you love. If you wear your flip flops all summer long, throw them in the mix. If you never wear dresses, don’t force it just for pictures.

2. Layers and accessories. Layers add interest and are a quick way for us to achieve multiple looks without a full outfit change; accessories show off your personality and can add dimension to your photos.

3. Be on time. Our session will begin two hours before sunset to take advantage of all that yummy, golden light, and we don’t want to miss a single minute. Starting our session even just 20 minutes late could mean we miss some amazing photo opportunities.

4. Mix it up. When selecting outfits for your session, select a few that range from casual to dressy. It’s great to have options depending on the location and weather.

5. Bring a prop. I love when my high school seniors get creative and bring along a prop that is significant to them. Think bike, hat, book, musical instrument, letterman jacket...anything goes as long as it means something to you. This allows us to have fun and show your true personality.

6. Finishing touches. Because hair and makeup are so important for your senior portraits, it’s definitely worth a little splurge to have them done professionally. If you need a referral, I know a few gals who are simply amazing at what they do…just ask me for their info! Also, be sure to pack a comb/brush/hair-spray in your bag the day of, so we can do quick touch-ups between locations, etc.

Frequently Asked questions1. Where will my session take place? Will

you travel?I’m an on-location, natural light photographer, so all my senior sessions take place outdoors at the location(s) we agree upon during our pre-session consultation. I know of several locations in the St. Louis metro area that would make great backdrops for your session, but it’s always fun to shoot at locations that are meaningful to you too. And I’m always up for an adventure, so of course I’ll travel! Travel fees apply for locations outside of a 50-mile radius of Ballwin, Missouri.

2. How do I prepare for my session? At the time you book your session, we’ll also schedule two additional appointments – your pre-session consultation and a viewing/ordering session. During the pre-session consultation, we’ll meet either in-person or by phone to discuss final arrangements for your session. We’ll talk about your favorite things, any extracurriculars you participate in, how silly parents can be…more or less get all of that “breaking the ice” stuff out of the way before your photo session. I’ll also talk to you a little bit about my shooting style, and then we’ll work together to select the location(s) for your session, talk about outfits, etc. Beyond that, there’s not much prep work you need to do…just show up on time the day of your session. Easy peasy!

3. Can I bring a friend? How about a pet?Absolutely! Let’s talk friends, first. If you’d like to have a friend tag along during your session, that’s awesome! Having a friend along can make our session that much more fun, plus, friends can be great wardrobe helpers. In fact, your friend might even make her way into a few of your photos. I do ask, however, that all cameras –- phone or otherwise -- are put away during our session. As for pets, furry friends are definitely welcome! Just let me know during your pre-session consultation so we can come up with a plan. It’s generally best if we shoot those photos at the beginning of our session and then send your pet home with a parent or friend while we finish up.

4. When will I get to see my images? When we book the date for your session, we’ll also book two additional appointments: a pre-session consultation (see FAQ #2 above), and a viewing/ordering session. The viewing session generally takes place about two weeks after your photo session. At this appointment, you’ll get to see your images for the first time, and you and your parents will have the opportunity to order prints, enlargements, and other products at that time. Within 24 hours of your viewing appointment, I will activate your PASS gallery so you can download your files and share your session with all your friends and family.

5. What is PASS?PASS is a cloud-based photo storage and viewing gallery. After your viewing/ordering session, I’ll email you a link to your PASS gallery, which you can access online via your computer or mobile device. There’s even a mobile app that allows you to access your images from your phone or tablet when you’re offline. With PASS, your photos are displayed in a simple but elegant Pinterest-style layout, and you can share and download your images with ease. See a sample PASS Gallery, at: http://christadonald.pass.us/seniors

6. Do you photograph yearbook headshots?Check your school’s guidelines for yearbook photos. If you are allowed to submit your own image from your senior portrait session, we can definitely photograph an image specifically for your yearbook. If there are particular submission guidelines (size, resolution, delivery instructions, etc.), please provide that information to me prior to your session.

7. How much do prints cost?Gift prints can be purchased directly through your PASS Gallery from the same professional lab that I use. Gift prints purchased through PASS are very affordable ($1 – 4x6; $2 – 5x7; $4 – 8x12), and they are shipped directly to you from my lab. Anyone with whom you share your PASS gallery can order gift prints. During your ordering session, you can also choose from the wide range of

additional products I offer (enlargements, framed prints, graduation announcements, albums, etc.).

8. Will you reschedule for bad weather?Of course!

9. Can I use my photos on Facebook? You bet! We want you to love your images so much that you can’t wait to share them! In fact, there’s a super-simple sharing feature built directly into your PASS gallery!

10. How do I book my session?Contact me for available dates. Senior sessions generally take place on Sunday evenings, though if a Saturday or weekday evening works best, just let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you. I usually begin shooting two hours before sunset (three hours if we are shooting in an urban location or on a cloudy day). Once we’ve agreed on a date, I will send you a link to your online client portal, where you can sign your contract and pay for your session. Please note that your session is not formally booked until payment in full has been received.
