complaints, we would like to hear about it.
Please feel free to talk to our staff or you may
prefer to write to us.
We take your complaints very seriously and if
necessary, we will refer the matter to our
Board of Directors for consideration. If you are
not satisfied with the outcome of a complaint or in
the way your complaint was handled you can refer the
matter to the Healthcare Complaints Commission:

Transport
Transport is a courtesy service provided to TAMS
clients who do not have access to a vehicle.
Transport is limited to the Tamworth area.
24hrs notice is required for transport bookings.
Please notify our reception immediately of any transport
cancellations.

Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Serice (TAMS)
. Access & Support (A&S)
The Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service (TAMS)
provides our community with an Access & Support
(A&S) Officer.
The TAMS A&S Officer will work with our
Aboriginal Clients to facilitate their access to
available health care resources, including
mainstream and targeted services.
Sometimes you just need a little help to get started
on the pathway to a healthier you and there is where
we come in.
What do we offer

— Education and prevention on risk
factors with Chronic Disease
— Assistance with booking
appointments
You may see the A&S Officer
out and about in the community
— Community health events i.e. Close The Gap
— Community groups
— Community activities/ programs
— School education sessions
— Fitness & Education programs

— Assisting with Client transports — Client Home visits
A&S Hours
A&S Officer is available between the hours of
9 am – 4 pm
Monday to Friday.
TAMS is open 9am– 5pm Monday to Friday
The service is closed Saturday, Sunday and Public
Holidays.

How to see one of the
Specialists at TAMS
You will need a referral letter from one of our
TAMS doctors to book an appointment with a
specialist provided at TAMS.
You can make an appointment with a TAMS
doctor by phoning our friendly Reception staff on
02 6760 2500.

Appointments
To make an appointment with the A&S Officer-
You need a TAMS doctor to complete a referral
form to TAMS A&S. The A&S Officer will contact
you to arrange an appointment once your referral is
received.
Clients must be registered with TAMS. It is
Important that you call to cancel an appointment
if you are unable to keep it.
