Key Terms (part 1)• Align - to arrange in a line• Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) - a camouflage worn by members of the U.S. Army, National

Guard, Army Reserve, and Army JROTC .• Bisecting - to cut or divide into two equal parts• Class A uniform – a service uniform that consists of an army green coat, trousers or slacks,

a long or short sleeve shirt, a tie or tie tab, and other authorized accessories .• Class B uniform - a service uniform that consist of everything that is in the class A uniform

except the jacket is not worn, the tie or tie tab is worn with the long sleeve shirt.• Chevron - a pair of broad piece stiff ended cloth worn on the shoulders of the class A or B

uniform to display insignia• Ferrule – a decorative metal cap attached to the end of the shoulder cord to prevent

fraying • Fitted - to adapt to the proper size or shape• Formal inspections - an official examination of JROTC unit that takes place on a prescribed

schedule.• Garrison Cap - head gear that may be worn in the class A or B uniforms.

Key terms (part 2)• Gig line - line formed by the seam of the shirt aligned with the zipper flap and the

edge of the belt buckle• Hemmed - to fold back and stich down the edge of a garment• Insignia - an emblem, badge, medal or other distinguished mark of office, honor or

position• Nap - a soft, fuzzy finish on cloth formed fibers raised on the surface• Non-subdued - bright and shining not dull or flat, such as polished brass pin on

insignia• Precedence - the act or the right of preceding or placing in order according to rank

or importance; priority• Pre-inspection - an informal examination before the official uniform inspection• Shoulder marks - a pair of broad piece stiff ended cloth worn on the shoulders of

the class A or B uniform to display insignia• Sized - the physical dimension of the uniform• tarnish - to dull the luster of
