Refuse Collection And RecyclingRubbishleftinagardenoroutonapavementfordaysisnotonlyunsightly,butcanattractdogs,catsandevenvermin.

WhenyoumoveintoyourhomeyoucancontactCardiffCountyCouncilon02920872087forinformationabouttherefusecollectionservice.Theywilltellyouwhichdayyourrubbishwillbecollected.Ifpossible,putyourrubbishoutonthemorningitisdueforcollection,butnoearlierthanthepreviousevening.

Youmustnotstoreanyrubbish,belongings,itemsoffurnitureorhouseholdwasteinanycommunalhallways,stairsorlandingsasthisblocksothertenants’rightofway,aswellascausingahealthandfirehazard.Wewillremoveanyrubbishorbelongingsfoundincommunalareas,andyouwillbere-chargedforthecostofthis.

TaffHousingAssociationalsokeepsastockoffreefoodwasteandgreenrecyclingbagsinreceptionforcollection.Similarly,youcanvisitourwebsiteforup-to-dateinformationonrefusecollectioninyourarea.

ParkingIfyouhaveacar,youshouldusetheparkingspacesprovidedaspartofyourhome.Tenantsalwaystakeprecedenceovervisitorswhenitcomestoparkingspaces.Whereparkingpermitshavebeenissued,thesemustbevisibleonyourwindscreen.

Donotparkyourvehicle:

• Whereitwillblockaccessforanyemergencyvehicles.

• Onyourgarden,onfootpaths,pavementsorgrassverges.

• Inspacesmarkedfortheuseofdisabledresidents,unlessyouhaveavaliddisabilitybadge.

Donotparklargecommerciallorries,busesorvansinresidentialareaseveniftheyareusedforyourjob.

Caravansareonlyallowedforveryoccasionalovernightparking.

Abandoned, Untaxed Or Broken Down VehiclesIfavehicleisleftinaverypoorstateofrepairordoesnothaveacurrenttaxdisc,wewilltrytocontacttheowner,getthemtoremoveit,orhaveitremovedourselves.ThelastknownregisteredkeeperontheDVLArecordswillbechargedforthisservice.

Ifyourcarorothervehiclehasbrokendownandisparkedonourland,pleaselettheofficeknowstraightaway.Youwillbegivenareasonabletimetorepairorremoveit.

Vehiclerepairs,otherthancasualmaintenanceworktoyourownvehicle,arenotallowed.Thismeansthatyoumustnotofferavehiclerepairservicetoothersifrepairswillbecarriedoutonourproperty.

GardensKeepingyourgardentidyisaconditionofyourtenancyagreementandimportantfortheoverallappearanceofyourhomeandyourneighbourhood.Ifyouhaveyourowngarden,youareexpectedtomaintainit.Theminimumstandardisthatyoucutthegrassregularly,andthatthereisnorubbishlyingaround.Pleaseremember,too,thatyouareresponsiblefordisposingofanygrassorgardenclippings.

Communal Areas And FacilitiesIfthereareanycommunalgardensorlandscapedareaswhereyoulive,wewilllookafterthese.Thisincludescuttingthegrass,maintainingplantedareas,litter-pickingandweeding.Wewillalsokeepanycommunalhallways,stairsandlandingsinacleanandtidycondition.Youwillpayfortheseservicesinyourservicecharge.

If,asresidents,youwouldliketomaintaintheseareasyourselves,pleasecontactyourHousingOfficer.

Pets Ifyouwanttokeepapet,youmustaskusfirst.Ifthepetwillnotbeaproblemtoyourneighbours,permissionwillnormallybegranted.However,wecanwithdrawpermissiontokeepapetifitcausesanuisancetoyourneighbours.Nuisancecausedbypetscaninclude:

• Badodours,e.g.fromdirtykennelsorhutches,orfromfoulinginthegardenwhichisnotcleanedupregularly.

• Noise,e.g.constantbarking.

• Foulingpublicareas.

• Beingallowedtoroaminpublicareasunsupervised.

• Beingdangerousorfrighteningtoneighbours.

Ifyouliveinaflat,youmaynotbeallowedtokeepcertainpets.Pleaseseethesectionon‘LivinginFlats’forfurtherinformation.

Promoting Community SafetyWecontributetopromotingcommunitysafetyinanumberofways:

• Participatingwiththepolice,theCouncilandotherstatutoryagenciesinthedetectionandpreventionofcrimeandanti-socialbehaviour.ThisincludesinvolvementinInformationSharingProtocols,attendingregularAnti-SocialBehaviourProblemSolvingGroups,attendanceattheCardiffExclusionsPanelandattendanceatlocalPACTmeetings.

• Makingsureournewhomesconformto‘SecurebyDesign’standards.

• Promotingcommunitysafetywithourtenants.

• Takingactionagainstthosewhohavecommittedcrimesandactsofdisorderonourestates.

Neighbourhood WatchYoucancontributetocommunitysafetybystartingaNeighbourhoodWatchSchemeinyourlocalarea.Thisisaschemewhereyoucangetinvolvedinkeepingawatchonhomesinyourlocalcommunityandreportinganysuspiciousactivitytothepolice.

Partnerships And Communities Together (PACT)Everymonth,thelocalpoliceofficersforeachwardareaholdaPACTmeeting.Thepurposeofthemeetingistoencouragelocalresidents,businessesandagenciestoraisetheirconcernsaboutissuesofcommunitysafetyoranti-socialbehaviourintheircommunity.

Theresidentsatthemeetingwilljointlyagreetheir3topprioritiesforthepolicetoconcentrateonoverthefollowingmonth.TheNeighbourhoodTeamwillworkcloselywithpartneragenciestotackleyourpriorities.AneighbourhoodCo-ordinatorwillmonitorprogressandensurethatlocalCommandersareawareoftheissuesyouhaveraised.Ateachmeetingtherewillbeareviewofprogressoverthelastmonth.Thiswillenableyoutoseethatworkinginpartnershipmakesadifference.
