Farmers, gardeners and everyone who loves the outdoors are patiently waiting for a few days of drier, sunnier weather! Fortunately, living in Maryland brings its share of great weather days, but some years we have to wait longer than other years! We hope you enjoy the many articles in this newsletter about upcoming ag related activities and programs open to the public. Prince George's County has a vibrant, thriving agritourism industry highly accessible to our residents. Not sure if I dare wish you an early Happy Summer still! This weather has been challenging, to saythe least! Farmers, gardeners and everyone who loves the outdoors are patiently waiting for a fewdays of drier, sunnier weather! Fortunately, living in Maryland brings its share of great weather days,but some years we have to wait longer than other years!

College Access Conference

Do you know any high school sophomore or juniors gettingready for college? If so, the University of Maryland, CollegePark, wants to invite them to their College AccessConference. The conference is scheduled for Saturday, June24th from 8am to 1pm.

Informational sessions will be offered that vary from "theapplication process, writing a college essay, gettinginvolved on campus, applying for merit scholarships andfinancial aid, and choosing a career". There will also be aninformation fair that allows you to talk with representativesfrom the academic schools and colleges offered on campus.For more information and to register for the conference pleaseclick the photo or here.

Alice Ferguson FoundationThe Alice Ferguson Foundation would like to inviteyou to their summer events. Kick off your summerwith Yoga & Mimosas where you can enjoy yoga, nature and wine with others. Buy Local Challenge

Have you been looking for places where you can buy locally grown produce, meats, wine, and more?Look no further. Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commision (SMADC) will be hosting "anevening of farms, food and fun" to honor its 10th annual Buy Local Challenge. This event is open tothe public and will take place Monday, July 31st, from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

Come out and enjoy "a locally­sourced Southern Maryland style buffet dinner, live music, theSuttler Post Farm Clydesdales, a raffle and lawn games, and the opportunity to purchase fromMaryland farmers, producers, artisans, and crafters". Burgers, Brews and Bay Education atClagett Farm The Chesapeake Foundation hosted their Burgers andBrews for the Bay festival that promotes "the mergerof sustainable farming with watershed management". Anarticle about the festival was featured on the "What's Up"Magazine website.
