The Food Project will be here Tuesdaythe 5th from 2:30 – 4:30 PM helping withtheir summer seed crew application.

Planned Parenthood will be here theafternoon of Wednesday the 13th and wewill kick off our social justice workshopseries on Thursday the 14th.

As part of the celebration of Zootopia, ZooNew England’s annual fundraising gala,the zoo staff is excited to announce thatapplications are now being accepted. Thenominated youth should be a student ingrades 3-12, have demonstrated apositive commitment to Zoo New Englandand its conservation mission, and haveengaged in some outstanding action tosupport this. The award, which includes a$2,500 scholarship, will be presented atZootopia on May 11, 2019 to further therecipient's project, conservation work andeducation.

The winner and two adults will receivecomplimentary tickets to Zootopia toparticipate in the awards ceremony. A Message from Annissa Essaibi-George

Some of the unresolved educationissues that I will continue to addressthroughout 2019, include:

BuildBPS: A transparentconversation on the Build BPS planand receiving answers on theremaining unclear future of manyschools, the timeline, and financialplan for the next phase.

School Committee: Revisit theschool committee governingstructure to review the nominatingprocess and identifying thenecessary changes to improve thevoice of the students and families inBoston.

Vocational Education: Advocatingfor increased funding for MadisonPark Technical Vocational HighSchool, while addressing theschools infrastructure, partnerships,and equipment.

I hope with the support of my colleagues,the administration, and this body, we canmake real progress to the quality ofBoston’s only vocational high school.

Following our successful forum inFebruary 2018, BECMA is excitedto host its second annual event inpartnership with Roxbury CommunityCollege as we celebrate Black HistoryMonth. The discussion will highlightpersons and groups who are working toaddress persistent racial and economicdisparities in the Commonwealth, andfeature TedX-style presentations followedby a robust question and answer periodwith audience members.
