The ArchitectureThe first thing you will notice after driving through the gated entrance is the beautiful historic architecture. The center building, the Jefferson, prominently displays a Federal-style architecture, while the buildings flanking it, the Madison and Monroe, feature a Williamsburg design. Although the buildings appear to be from the 1700’s, they were actually built in 1981. Don’t be disappointed, however, because the ground on which they prominently rest is ‘original’.

The Battle of Yellow TavernVirginia Crossings is in the heart of Civil War country. A plaque is located on the outer ring of the central courtyard describing the Battle of Yellow Tavern, which took place on the lands now shared by the hotel and golf course. It was during this battle that famed Confederate General, J.E.B. Stuart, was mortally wounded. Just outside the property, on Old Telegraph Road, is a monument dedicated to Stuart.

Walk Across AmericaMost guests prefer to walk the property by way of beautiful brick courtyards and flowered pathways. However, when the weather turns, our underground passageways offer warm and dry transport along with a Walk Across America pictorial journey.

The Birthplace of PresidentsVirginia provided four of the first five presidents of the United States - eight in all, more than any other state. Three of the buildings at Virginia Crossings were named after presidents - Thomas Jefferson (3rd), James Madison (4th) and James Monroe (5th).
