Deðerli Öðretmen DostlarýmýzSevgili Öðrenciler,

Yeni öðretim yýlýna baþlarken tüm dostlarýmýza ve sevgiliöðrencilerimize saðlýk, esenlik ve baþarýlar diliyoruz.

Bu “Merhaba” yazýmýzda sizlere yararlý olacaðýný umduðumuz bazýdeðerlendirmelerimizi paylaþmak istiyoruz.

Birincisi, sýnava giren abonelerimizden bize ulaþan veriler vesonuçlarýyla ilgili. ELS ile hazýrlanýp sýnava girenlerin “dil neti” 95-98 net aralýðýndayoðunlaþmýþ ve önemli sayýda abonemiz 99-100 dil netine ulaþmýþtýr. Ancak bazýabonelerimizin dildeki bu baþarýlarý, sýralamaya ayný ölçüde yansýmamýþtýr. Bununnedeni, 1. sýnavdaki baþarýnýn da puanlama ve yerleþtirme aþamasýnda çok önemli biretken olduðudur. Bu nedenle, sizlere önümüzdeki sýnavda dil net hedefinizi 95-100aralýðý olarak belirlerken, 1. sýnavý ihmal etmemenizi öneriyoruz.

Ýkinci deðerlendirmemiz de, dil alanýndaki artacaðýný düþündüðümüzavantajlara iliþkin. 4 yýllýk lise sisteminin sonucu olarak, 2007-2008 döneminde ÖSS’yegirecek öðrenci sayýsýnda bir azalma olacaktýr. Doðal olarak bu durum dil alanýna dayansýyacaktýr. Bunun yaný sýra, MEB’in ilköðretimin 1. kademesi için hazýrladýðý ve 2.kademesi için de hazýrlamakta olduðu müfredat programýnda Ýngilizce öðrenimini öneçýkarmasý, önümüzdeki yýllarda çok sayýda Ýngilizce öðretmenine gereksinimduyulacaðýný göstermektedir. Bu da, bu yýldan baþlamak üzere, bir yandan Ýngilizcealanýnda eðitim yapan bölümlerin kapasitesinin artýrýlmasýný, bir yandan da bu alandayeni bölümlerin açýlmasýný kaçýnýlmaz kýlacaktýr. Bu durumu sizleri motive edecek biravantaja dönüþtürmelisiniz.

Sýnava hazýrlanan adaylarýn hedeflerine ulaþmalarýnda 13 yýllýkbirikimiyle ELS’in katkýsýnýn önemini sizler de takdir ediyorsunuz. Deðerliöðretmenlerimizin katkýsýyla, sistemli, programlý ve disiplinli bir biçimde ELS ile sýnavahazýrlandýðýnýzda hedefe ulaþmamanýz olanaksýzdýr. Yeter ki isteyin ve seçtiðiniz alanýsevin. Bu sayede, hem Ýngilizce’yi en yetkin þekilde öðrenmenin hem de sýnavdabaþarýlý olmanýn keyfini yaþayacaksýnýz. Bu keyfi sizlerle baþta öðretmenleriniz,velileriniz ve ELS çalýþanlarý olarak bizler de paylaþmak istiyoruz ve paylaþacaðýmýzainanýyoruz. YAYINLARIMIZ NASIL BÝR SÝSTEM ÝÇERÝSÝNDE ÝZLENMELÝDÝR?

ELS Yayýncýlýk olarak YDS-Ýngilizce hazýrlýk programýný üç aþamada gruplandýrdýk.

3 9. Sýnýf Seti3 10. Sýnýf Seti3 ELS-YDS Hazýrlýk Dergi Seti

Bu setler düzey olarak birbirini takip eder niteliktedir ve belli bir sistem içerisindeizlendiðinde öðrenciye, YDS-Ýngilizce sýnavýnýn gerektirdiði düzeyde Ýngilizce ve edindiðibilgileri çoktan seçmeli bir testte kullanma becerisi kazandýrmaktadýr.

9. Sýnýflar için:

9. sýnýf öðrencisi henüz ÖSS alan seçimi yapmadýðý için, 9. Sýnýf Seti, bütünöðrencilere hitap etmektedir. Ancak, 10. sýnýfta dil bölümünü seçmeyi düþünen öðrenciler içinbu set, sistemli bir temel oluþturmayý amaçlamaktadýr.

4 yýllýk lise sisteminde, dil alanýný seçen düz lise öðrencisi eski sistemde olduðu gibidezavantajlý durumda deðildir çünkü sýnava hazýrlanmasý için önünde üç yýl vardýr. Öðrenci buüç yýlý doðru kaynaklarla iyi deðerlendirdiði takdirde, bir Anadolu lisesi mezunu ile eþit þansasahip olur.

10. Sýnýflar için:

YDS-Ýngilizce öðrencisi için bu setler, normal olarak, 9. sýnýfta 9. Sýnýf Seti, 10. sýnýfta10. Sýnýf Seti ve 11. ve 12. sýnýfta ELS-YDS Hazýrlýk Dergi Seti biçiminde kullanýlabilir. Ancak,özellikle düz liselerde, eðer öðrenciler 9. sýnýfta 9. Sýnýf Seti’ni çalýþmamýþsa, 10. sýnýfta hem9. Sýnýf Seti hem de 10. Sýnýf Seti izlenebilir.

11. Sýnýflar için:

10. Sýnýf Seti’ni tamamlamýþ olan YDS öðrencisi, 11. sýnýfta ELS-YDS Hazýrlýk DergiSeti’ne baþlayabilir. Dergi seti, hem 11. sýnýfta hem de 12. sýnýfta yeterli olacak materyaliiçermektedir. 11. sýnýfta gramer ve pasaj çalýþmalarýna aðýrlýk verilebilir. (Özellikle ENGLISHGRAMMAR INSIDE and OUT’un ve ENGLISH THROUGH READING’in Intermediate veUpper-Intermediate bölümlerindeki pasajlarýn yavaþ bir tempoyla sindire sindire çalýþýlmasý çokönemlidir.)

Ancak, öðrenci 10. sýnýfý okurken 10. Sýnýf Seti’ni izlememiþse, 11. sýnýfa bu set ilebaþlayabilir ve daha sonra ELS-YDS Hazýrlýk Dergi Seti’yle devam edebilir.

12. Sýnýflar için:

Yukarýda belirttiðimiz biçimde, 12. sýnýfa kadar ELS yayýnlarýný izlemiþ olan öðrencilerle12. sýnýfta dergiler, TEST YOUR VOCABULARY kitabý ve okuma kitabýnýn kalan bölümü(Advanced düzeydeki pasajlar) izlenerek program tamamlanabilir.

Ancak öðrenci, ELS yayýnlarýyla 12. sýnýfta tanýþýyorsa, programa doðrudan ELS-YDSHazýrlýk Dergi Seti’yle baþlanabilir ve hýzlý bir programla set tamamlanabilir.

ELS-YDS Hazýrlýk Dergisi neleri içermektedir?

The dodo bird used to live on the tropical islands of Mauritius, off the southeastern coast ofAfrica, in the Indian Ocean. At about 23 kilograms, the dodo was a very large bird, and so,different from a lot of birds, it was not able to fly. It lived entirely on the ground and nestedthere. This was not a problem for the dodo, because it had no enemies: the dodo was, in away, the king of the islands of Mauritius. The dodo’s diet was made up of fruit, mostly the fruitof the tambalacoque tree. When humans first came to the islands of Mauritius in the early 16thcentury, the dodo did not fear them at all, because it had lived for such a long time without anyenemies. Many people believe that humans then became the first enemies of the dodo, andkilled them in large numbers for meat or for sport. However, recent discoveries havesuggested that this did not happen: dodo meat was considered too tough and bad-tasting toeat, so it was almost never eaten except in great emergency. There is no evidence to suggestthat mass killings of dodos for sport ever happened, either. But humans did kill dodosindirectly: they brought animals like dogs, cats, pigs, and rats to Mauritius, and these ate dodoeggs. Also, humans destroyed the forests where the dodos lived. As a result of these severechanges, the dodo had become extinct by the end of the 17th century.
