Your guide to the new Gumtree Jobs

In a nutshellThis November we’re migrating Gumtree Jobs over to a new platform, designed to make it easier for you to advertise with us and for our candidates to search for the right jobs.

This new platform will be powered by specialist recruitment technology, so that it helps to streamline your job posting and reduce your administrative time. The big changes

Profile building: Our new boosted standard ad package includes an employer profile feature in a Recruiter A-Z section, plus eligibility to appear in daily ‘job alert’ emails to jobseekers. New sector hub pages: We’ve created new category-specific landing pages, to make it easier for candidates to find the right jobs in our most popular sectors. You can also opt to become a Featured Sector Recruiter on these hubs, to raise your profile further still. Laser-focused job targeting: There are now some much wider selection criteria for posting ads, allowing you to more specifically target the right candidates. This also makes finding the right jobs even easier for jobseekers. More prominence: We’re offering more features to help your top jobs, urgent listings and premium posts stand out in the search results pages, on the Gumtree Jobs homepage and on sector hub pages. Relevancy-based search functionality: Search results for jobs listings will be populated on a relevancy basis rather than simply by date. Jobseekers will also be able to search for jobs via a salary field. Reporting and measurement: We’re giving our pro-account subscription customers exclusive access to a more powerful recruiter services area. This will give them advanced tools to manage and measure ad performance, thanks to improved tracking and insight reporting.

FAQs: New terminologyQ: How are the results listed now? A: The search results for job listings are now populated on a relevancy basis. That means you’ll attract more suitable candidates to your vacancy, as they will find it easier to locate the most relevant jobs.

Q: What’s a homepage spotlight? A: These are sector spotlights which feature on the new Gumtree Jobs homepage, as well as the sector hub page.

Q: What is a CV search? A: It’s an all-new feature which will soon allow jobseekers to upload their CV onto our database. Clients can then search through these, and contact candidates directly about relevant jobs. We will shortly be launching this feature and if it’s of interest, please let your account manager know and we’ll be in touch as soon as it’s live.

Q: What is a sector hub? A: It’s one of our brand new landing pages for our most popular sectors. It features the most relevant jobs and recruiters and can be reached via a sector link on the homepage, making it even easier for our candidates to find the right jobs.

FAQs: TechnicalQ: I’m struggling to log in – how A: Your log in hasn’t changed. So just use the same username and do I do it? password that you use to log in to your Gumtree account. If that doesn’t work, try resetting your password. Failing that, please contact your Gumtree account manager.

Q: Where will my logo appear? A: We’ll place your company logo next to your job description free of charge on every listing. You can also upgrade this, so your logo features next to your job listing on the search results page too, and in our new Recruiter A-Z, for just £9.99.

Q: Why have my London/ROUK A: You no longer need them! Our new platform makes posting even ads gone? easier, by making job credits applicable nationally, instead of needing separate credits for different locations.



FAQs: Technical - continuedQ: How do I get my logo on A: You need to become a Featured Recruiter. Your logo can also be the homepage? specifically targeted to our new sector hubs – allowing you to promote yourself as an employer of choice within your sector. Please speak to your account manager if you would like to include this in your contract.

Q: Why can’t I post an advert? A: This could be for a number of reasons. So please speak to your account manager who can talk you through the process.

Q: How do I upload a logo? A: Uploading your logo is quick and simple. Simply click ‘upload logo’ on the job posting page, select the logo you wish to upload from your computer, then our tool will let you easily re-size it on screen.

Q: Why can’t I add extra images A: We don’t think you need them. The option to add multiple images was for free? a feature designed for our classified site – where it is more appropriate.

Q: What has happened to A: We’ve migrated all of your live ads across to our new platform for my live ads? you. But please take a moment to check they are tagged as effectively as possible, as we now offer additional ways to categorise your listing, to help our jobseekers find the most relevant vacancies. You can do this by logging in to Recruiter Services.

Q: What has happened to the A: That no longer exists. Extensive new categorisation means we now general jobs category? offer sector-specific job listings. Jobseekers can use our new browse function to refine their search and quickly sift through all our listings to target the right jobs.

Q: How do I find my job on the site? A: There are a number of ways to do this – either by using a keyword search, by browsing our new categories, or by using our Recruiter A-Z (found in the top navigation bar) to find your company profile. This will contain all of your live jobs.

Q: How do I flag up the contract A: You can access this new category by logging in to our Recruiter type of my job? Services. You can select from a range of contract types, including freelance, self-employed and cash-in-hand, to help our jobseekers find the perfect job for them.

Q: How can I view my applications? A: Your applications can be found in our Recruiter Services. Simply log in, click ‘My Jobs’, and select the relevant job. You can then view all your applications. If you would like a detailed tutorial on how to use the Recruiter Services, please contact your account manager.


FAQs: Your contractQ: Can I cancel my contract? A: Any remaining inventory on your current Gumtree contract will automatically move over to the new platform – so your cancellation rights remain the same. Your invoices, and the value and size of your inventory won’t change either.

Q: Have your prices gone up? A: No. Our new system offers significantly more value, as we have launched a number of new features, so we are reviewing our pricing. However, your existing contract rates will be honoured, and any future packages will be agreed between you and your account manager, and will reflect the value of the inventory included.

Q: Do I get a discount? A: Any discounts that already applied will be taken into account when your inventory is converted over to the new platform.

Q: Where are my spotlight A: We have replaced homepage spotlights with sector spotlights which credits? are featured on the new Gumtree jobs homepage, as well as the sector hub pages, where relevant. This ensures a more relevant and targeted response for your ads.

Q: How am I charged for A: A refresh will use one of your job posting credits, exactly the same a refresh? as a bump-up did on our old system.

Q: Will my other accounts remain A: Yes. There is no change to any of your other Gumtree accounts. the same?
